Step 1: Roll for Primary and Secondary Missions
Step 2: Roll for Deployment type
Step 3: Roll for Special Rule
Step 4: Roll off to decide who is attacker (deploys first, goes first), or defender (deploys and goes second, barring a seize)

Note: Attacker chooses deployment zone where it is not explicitly detailed and deploys the first objective. Defender set terrain in their own deployment zone(within reason). Random Game-length, Seize the initiative, and secondary(tertiary) objectives are in effect.

Primary Missions are objective based. There are d3+2 Primary objectives.
Primary Objectives may be:
1. Strategic Objectives(As Apocalypse): each objective that has a scoring unit within 3 "inches
is worth 1 point first turn; 2 points second turn, and so on. Points are cumulative throughout the game.
2. Capture the Flag -(once a scoring unit is within 3" it remains yours even if the unit moves away until
an enemy unit contests it) Each player scores 3 points for each objective with their flag at the end of
the game.
3. Taken - once a scoring unit is base-to-base for 1 full game turn, remove the marker from play. Players score 3 points
for each objective they removed from play. Taken objectives must be placed outside of deployment zones.

Secondary Missions are scored for killing the enemy. This measured by either:
1. Kill Points - the player with the most kill points at the end of the game scores 3 points
2. Victory Points - player who destroys the most unit points (like old-school victory points) gains 3 victory points.
3. Salvage - 1 point for each vehicle or Monstrous Creature destroyed

Tertiary Mission is (Regular Secondary Missions)
1. First Blood
2. Slay the Warlord
3. Line-breaker

Deployment:
1. Strong-point attack:
defender deploys within 12 inches of the center of the board width-wise and up to 24 inches from the defender's board edge.(top aligned box 24inches by 24 inches) Attacker deploys within 6 inches of opposite long board edge and 6 inches from either short board edge.
2. Breakout: Defender deploys his forces within 12 inches of the width-wise center of the board. The attacker deploys half his starting units within 12 inches of one short board edge and the other half within 12 inches of the other short board edge.
3. Two Camps: each player deploys in a 12" inch circle centered 18 inches from their selected short board edge. Units that do not fit go in reserve.
4. Head-on: make an X across the board - the defender goes in one quarter, the attacker goes in the opposite quarter.
5. End-run - as spearhead, except no one may deploy within 12 inches of their board-edge.
6. Table Quarters -Table quarters( like 5th ed). 12" Radius no mans land.

Special Rules:
1. Low Visibility - Flyers are -1 to reserve rolls.
2. Unlimited reserves - If a natural troop choice(NO Force org switches may use this) is destroyed bring an identical unit in from reserve during your next turn. Dedicated transports are NOT included.
3. Slash + Burn - roll d6 for each piece of area terrain. on a 1-3 it is Burning (Dangerous Terrain)or Smoking(+1 Cover save)
4. Dug in - (4+ Cover save for each infantry unit as long as it does not move)
5. War without End - as Unlimited reserves, but all non-vehicle units.
6. All or Nothing - All non-vehicle units are scoring

Perhaps I should do a batrep to advertise how this works. The first test game went well. I'll write up and post it with a link to this page and maybe see some responses.

I really dislike your Special Rules aspect, pretty much every one of them craps all over one list type or another (inc. balanced lists)

Special Rules are overpowered. Why are force org switches excluded exactly? They are a troops choice afterall.
I never liked these endless rules. They just put you at a disadvantage if you wipe out your opponents units instead of killing them. Thats unintuitive and leads to strange target priorities. Having infantry that didnt move have 4+ cover means that all heavy weapons squads become overpowered. Also it nerfs vehicles even more than 6th edition already did.

What i like on your concept is essentially everything except the special rules.

The Unlimited reserves is really messed up. I'd just end up bringing 6 units of 10 kroot with a hound and infiltrating them in the hopes they get killed off quickly just to bring that many back in outflanking. I mean it would make a really brutal game when you're not concerned about units being killed off to the last man, but it would have an overall negative impact on armies with less mobile troops or troops that rely on transports to get to objectives.

And with war without end, I can see this being somewhat disasterous. An army like Tau with Riptides and deepstriking suits has no reason to not deepstrike everything in for alpha-strikes since the unit dying off gets them a new full unit. It also gives a huge bonus to deepstriking armies since there is no problem with deepstriking suicidally close since you'll just spawn a new deepstriking unit the next turn.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

I'm quite curious about the New Objectives and Deployments, but find some of them confusing as I don't play Apocalypse at all, and have missed the last few editions so i don't know what you mean by old Victory Points or Spearhead.

Theres plenty, and if you haven't noticed from this thread and from a certain other thread about a certain overpowered Titan, other people tend to agree with my opinions too.

Said titan was underpowered with nothing but added durability for an additional 1000 friggin points.
From what I've seen most people disagree with you. That was an exception.

I get what you are trying to do, but yeah...these are shortsighted. On the surface it seems like a quick way to add more, but what it comes out to be is a punishment to players.

To take the stance you're taking you shouldn't have even made comment on it considering it took up a single comment.

Lets get back on topic now guys, I'm sure the OP doesn't want to see this thread hijacked and locked.

I agree with earlier posters about how the special rules need to be either reworked or removed, but if you are set on them then I think there is a typo in the Slash and Burn one, or does someone (it doesn't specify who) just pick if its smoking or burning terrain? Because that seems open to abuse (for example: the ones in my table half are smoking, the ones in your half are dangerous)

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Back on track, Lets take what OP has suggested, and fix the problems, because god knows the BRB missions are boring as hell and could do with a little more variety.

Primary Objectives: We've got to be careful not to undervalue troops here by making too easy to score with few troop choices. I'd also suggest that perhaps Taken should be similar to the relic - troops can pick up objectives and carry them, potentially taking them off of the board to keep them permanently.

Secondary: Some of us really, really, really dislike Kill Points and don't want to see it shoehorned into every game. Unit Points, if that works how I think it does, is much more suitable, but I'd still recommend against having it be a part of every game. Salvage, as well as every other option you've proposed that targets a certain type of unit, unfairly penalizes certain armies (generally the ones that are already weaker in this edition) and should be scrapped entirely.

Tertiary: Good lord, a chance to remove First Blood from the game? Begone! The other two are fine by me, and we can easily find an alternative for that awful objective. Three sets of objectives might be a bit excessive anyway

I'll let someone else tackle Deployment, and the Special Rules have already been covered

This isn't designed specifically to give advantage to one army or another. I have 6 wildly different armies. I tend to rotate them out on monthly basis and thus would gain no benefit from weighting this at all. This would also lead to my opponents being uninterested in "homebrew" rules which is the exact opposite of my objective here.

Perhaps the mission special rules do need to be reworked, since there is so much hate aimed at them. How about some constructive criticism? What would you replace, and with what?
