how can I make a space marine look dead, I want to have him in a vaguely sitting position, slumped against a wall.

You need to cut up the legs to get the right sitting position and to add a slumped look. Otherwise its about making the arms torso and head look a bit slack. Big holes in the armour helps too
|

Youre going to hack off a good portion of his upper arms/legs and replace with greenstuff in order to angle them right.
Not the same position, but for my Ghazzy's new bosspole i put a marine on it that was SUPPOSED to be on a bike. I hacked off the legs above the knees and cut the piece connecting a turret-using arm to repose like this:
What i did was i made the legs and let it dry. When they dried i made a ball of greenstuff and stabbed it with the now hardened legs so it didnt mold into 1 piece. Due to the armor, its quite easy to replace a limb of the model. It would be hard if there were any muscles or fancy armor to deal with lol

ok thanks for the input, im going to be putting him in a real beat up rhino (on the inside) as a mini-diorama, Im going to scratch build the rhino probably have a gak load of blood and real dark coloured metal on the inside to. what inspired me is the halo motion comic : the mona lisa, seriously even if you don't like halo watch it.

Apply a thick red glaze to the eyesockets, so the marine looks like he's bleeding from them.

hey everybody, OK SO PROGRESS UPDATE: ok firstly ive finished the right arm( i just reposed the thumb).
ive started the left (its going to be cut off at the wrist, ill use a little bit of a tooth pick to look like a bit of broken bone sticking from the wound).
the right leg is going to be cut off at the knee again with an exposed bone.
what do you guys think i should with the left leg?
