Ladies and gents...

I'm going to start a Necron army and I have put together a proposed 1500pt list. Feedback and proposed changes would be appreciated. I am yet to purchase any models for the army (Although I already have an Overlord and two units of warriors) and I want to plan before I buy, I rushed into purchasing models I liked the look of for my SM army and it sucks and I'm reluctant to put anymore money into it.

1500 Necron list:

Overlord - MSS, Res. Orb, Semp Weave

Royal Court

Despairtek - N.Shroud
Destructek - solar pulse
Stormtek - lightning field

10 x warriors
10 x warriors
10 x warriors

10 x Immortals w/ tesla carbines

5 x Lychguard w/ H.Swords and D.Shields

6 x Canoptek Wraiths - 1 x p.caster 5 x W.Coils

Annihilation barge - tesla cannon
Annihilation Barge - tesla cannon
Annihilation Brage - tesla cannon

The overlord would join a unit of warriors

Despairtek and Destructek would each join the remaining two units of warriors

Stormtek would join the Lychguard

Like I say it's only proposed and feedback and/or suggestions of improvement would be appreciated. I am aware it amounts to 1510 points but the guys at my local club are pretty easy going.

Ciao

Welcome to the Crons! I have put some comments and suggestions below - hope you find them helpful. Bit of a wall of text!

Warscythes are the business. As a rule, Overlords should always have warscythes, because if you get challenged out, the warscythe will help way more. Also, means you can detach and send him off to kill vehicles.

Despairteks are good. Often used with a veil of darkness (rather than a shroud, but sometimes with both) to provide movement options for Deathmarks and deathstars (like your Lychguard for instance). With Deathmarks, an awesome unit.

Destructek with Pulse - Excellent option - some of the only S8 you can get. Also, has (for crons) excellent range!

Stormtek - Great against vehicles, but may not be necessary in your list as you haven't really got the right mobility and you have a load of Gauss. Best combo is to stick them with warriors in a Scythe.

Thing about crypteks is that they are characters, so don't forget your precision shots (particularly with the Destructek).

Generally, warrior blobs need larger numbers, or Ghost ark support. Larger numbers benefit from a resorb (but go 20 warriors for that). In this case, given that warriors tend to die horribly fast in CC (I2 is not good) I'd suggest you make this 2x15, or 2x10 with a GA. 2x15 to give you a better shot in overwatch.

Perfect. There is a big debate about whether Gauss is better - I tend to use my immortals from further away so I like Tesla better. Also, Tesla is better in overwatch.

Not a popular unit with the interwebz, but I like them with this loadout. However, they need more mobility so try sticking a VeilTek (Despairtek with veil) in here. Some will argue that warscythes are better, but I think the 4+ Invul works better.

Awesome CC unit. Too many coils, go with about 3, cos if your opponent has any idea what they are doing, some will die before you get to combat. Later on, pair with Destroyer Lord for even better combo.

AB's are simply brilliant. Make sure you don't forget about the arc rule, (i almost always forget :()

No. Here, he should join Lychguard. 10 warriors does not justify a res orb - you won't get value.

I'd suggest you make the Lychguard a mini death star, so Overlord, Lych and Veiltek.

Generally, if you are looking for CC deterrent, take despairteks over lightning. You can have multiple despairteks (because they each get the staff - the limitation is that you can only have the special wargear once in each royal court. So, you can have four despairteks in 1 royal court, but only one veil and 1 shroud between the 4 of them).

A couple of suggestions for building your army.

1) AB come with overlord models and separate bases for them. These are plastic ones, which are great for conversions and they come with Orb hands and normal hands. So, you can easily create normal lords from an AB Overlord, I just trimmed down the cloak and made it look ragged, then trimmed the "helmet" off.

2) Crypteks are expensive, but easy to convert if you have some warrior bodies and bits left over from a Lychguard box (which you'll have!). Just use the Praetorian heads (You could use the deathmark heads but see below). Make up any cool looking staff etc you like from the leftover praetorian bits and use the praetorian backs to make them look different to normal warriors. I just trimmed/stuck bits to taste.

3) Deathmarks - You really need to have at least one unit of 5. GREAT unit. Good news - From an Immortal box, you can make both the deathmarks and the immortals if you have some spare warrior legs and chests. Make the Immortals first, then use warrior legs and chests to make the deathmarks (because the Disintegrator hides a lot of the chest) - you just have to trim the back of the warrior chest a bit to get it to fit.

4) I suggest you get a couple of battleforce boxes, a Lych Box and your 3 AB (could even go with 2 to start). From the battleforces make: 10 Immortals (5 from each box) + 5 Deathmarks (using the trick in 3), 5 Crypteks (using the spare deathmark heads, warrior bodies and legs and bits from the Lych box), then 30 warriors. You also get 10 scarab bases (These are a great unit too!). For the GA/DA, I suggest you make GA. If you can magnetise do that. As a cheat, make the GA, but dont put the broken warriors in it. Then if you want it to be a DA, you can just whack the gun in - not pretty, but for an easy going group should be ok.

5) From the AB, make 2 overlords (cos you'll need 2 at some point). If you get 3 AB, make the 3rd one a normal lord with orb.

6) If you are running short of cash, don't buy any wraiths yet. I find they are useless in squads of 3 (although I'm sure others will disagree). Use scarabs instead.

Have fun!
