How would we go about using it??
I have never run a supplement army, I have only ever taken allies...
How does a supplement army work?
Do we sub out profiles for models? (Like Abaddon?)
Does the supplement book come with rules for explaining what you can take in a standard game? (IE If I want to play CSM, but use new rules from the supplement book, do I have to take an allied detachment or something?)
Automatically Appended Next Post: Sorry if this isnt very clear for a question =/
I can simplify it by asking, if it itself is its own codex.. Would I have to run it as an ally attachement?

The supplement tells you how to run an army using it. it uses units from the CSM codex and you can run the army as a primary selection. You can also ally with CSM, so you could run a primary CSM list and then for your ally detachment take a Black legion force. or you could take a Black legion force as the primary and a ally detachment of regular CSM.
So yes you can now have 4 heldrakes in a list if you want to.(3 for the main force and 1 in the allied detachment)

it introduces new wargear and special rules for chaos space marines. It seems to be quite fluffy though so unless you want to build a black legion army you're probably best off sticking with the vanilla codex.
For powergamers though, they can ally with black legion to take four helldrakes. But then you may as well ally with imperial guard to take three vendettas...

The plural of codex is codexes.

I'm just curious as to what they changed with Abaddon..
I can see that he already has a CC attack that is strx2 AP1 armorbane, fleshbane, Instant Death...
Now the question is, how do I take Abaddon, in CSM, if I wanna take Abaddon, in the new codex with something that sexy <3

That would be the Hand of Darkness, which is an artifact within the supplement..
But Abbadon has it? I doubt it, nor could he likely take it.

Yah, Abbadon probably has the same profile as the CSM codex, the hand of doom as mentioned above is one of the new artifacts which sadly is pretty awful since it is expensive as hell.

It's always a heartbreaker when a powerful weapon doesn't cost 5 pts...
No one has really had too terribly much to report on the supplement yet, has anyone tried it out yet?

I don't see it out yet on GW's site. I'd very much like to buy a copy and see about putting this old Abbadon to use.

It's still early days for supplements, but the others released so far have had absolutely no changes to any special characters, even those relevant to the supplement (Prince Yriel and Commander Farsight). So I very much doubt Abaddon himself has changed at all.

Powerful weapon?! where?!... oh you mean the 1 attack WS5 that has 55% chance of wounding against whatever isn't a cc beast (which is where you will want to instant death), and then add the usual 4++ which takes you down to 27% chance of killing your target, if you are unlucky and face a SS or novaed riptide it goes down to 18% chance of killing it. Is that the powerful weapon you are referring to? or is there another one i'm not aware of?
P.S. forgot to add that the Tau have a similar upgrade for the cost of a flamer so...

for reducing your attacks from 5 to 1, it really is kind of expensive.
A chainfist, will give you 5 times as many attacks, still str*2, ap2, armorbane and will ID most models and costs half as much. I imagine we are going to see a lot of allied BL armies with EW Daemon Prices backed up with a squad of cultist.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can I not go the route of taking a Tzeentch lord with a sigil of corruption for a 3++, then take that Crucible of lies to re-roll the ones as well?
What is everyone's opinion on this? An almost 2++ save along with a decent weapon should cost you around 150 points. Add in your disk, bike, jump pack, or whatever and we have a quick 2++ character with a weapon that can actually kill stuff.
Have I overlooked something or do you guys think he's way too expensive for what you get?
