Hello all,

I'm considering trying Necromunda for the first time while my group waits for Malifaux 2E to officially arrive. I've got my copy of the Yakromunda Community Rulebook, and a supply of Terraclips terrain in the mail.

Based on GW's removal of support for the line (and the fact that their gang minis look pretty... dated), I'm hoping to find appropriate minis elsewhere.

Reaper Chronoscope looks like it might be a good place to start, but do you guys have any other favourite sources?

Thanks for your help!

I still use the Delaque gang I bought in 1998 with a couple of Hersey figs thrown in.

The others in in my group are using a mix of converted cultists from the Dark Vengeance boxset for Cawdor, Dark Eldar witches, original models and whole mix of other stuff for Escher.

I have also seen IG Catachans being used for Goliaths quite well.

Really anything a bit grubby/gangery will be suitable.

Don't forget that eBay is usually full of original gangers too.

Here's a Plog with our campaign in it. SMOG TOWN

This thread from Yakromunda has a ton of good stuff to choose from. I am still using my old gangs, but I am working on a Cawdor gang using the Dark Vengeance Cultists.

Space Marine scouts make great Enforcers.

It's always cool to check out smaller companies like Heresy Miniatures and Hasslefree miniatures. Probably Reaper's Chronoscope and Savage Worlds lines, as well.

My gang is mainly imperial guardsmen with the imperial insignias removed from the helmet and equipment. Add some ork (spikey) bits and you are good to go. I even have a few eldar and necron bit shoved in there. However, my gang uses a lot of lasguns/laspistols which come with the guardsmen so you would need to look elsewhere for bolters and such.

A lot of people have used the chaos cultists from the starter pack and while they do a great job a lot of people are doing it.

My roommate has a bunch of the Jailbirds selected from Raging Heroes Toughest Girls Kickstarter, for use as Escher.

In my opinion... miles and away better than the old GW figures.

And I have a bunch of Gangers by Heresy that I plan to have play double duty in a Fallout game that I run and as a Dulaque gangers....

I use Mantic Corporation for Van Saar, but my gang is supposed to be mercs, more than a gang. Any time they are on the table they are fighting somebody else's battle.

The Auld Grump

*EDIT* More accurately, other folks use my minis... I run a Pathfinder game the same night that the Necromunda game takes place.

The cultists from the new 40k Dark Vengeance starter box make great Orlocks. Well, Chaos Orlocks anyway.

I made my Goliath gang with the bodies (and some legs) of Chaos Marauders and the catachan most other things. I used Ork arms for weapons since Goliaths can't use the lasguns that come with the catachans. Now, I'm not suggesting buying 3 boxes to make one gang, I happened to have this stuff anyways except for the catachans. It looks pretty cool though.

My Eschers are a mix of actual Eschers and iKore minis, and my Orlocks are a mix of original Orlocks and Catachans..

I have a nearly-finished Goliath gang that is a mix of original Goliath and Chaos Marauder, Gorkamorka Boy and Space Wolf parts, and a Van Saar Gang in the works made up from Schaefer's Last Chancers.

I realize I'm repeating myself, but I wanted to jump back on here and say "Thank you" once again to everyone for their great posts.

One of my friends pounced on those perfect Heresy trenchcoat guys for his Delaque gang.

For myself, I'm going with Infinity's Reverend Moiras for my Escher (example: http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/2013/miniatures/reverend-moiras-3/ ). This represents my first Corvus Belli purchase, and I'm eager to see if these models are as good as people say they are.

I also made my first attempt at building a Terraclips terrain kit (in this case, "Sewers of Malifaux"). Very cool product, but definitely time-consuming to construct and I realized after I'd finished that I have NOWHERE to store assembled terrain this big (30"x24"). Anyway, here's what I came up with (25mm Reaper mini in background for scale):

I'm thinking of having a go at building a board with a smaller footprint, but more levels (I have "Streets" and "Buildings" also). Would this put ranged gangs at too much of a disadvantage? Do I really need a playing surface 3 feet to a side?

I like that terraclips stuff but hadn't thought of using it for Necro, this is making me think again. its very handsome.

Part of the game of Necro is getting into position to attack, whether you are ranged or CC orientated. A small board like the terraclips one would be too small IMHO. I'd also suggest a ton of scatter terrain (boxes and the like) to provide cover as well.

Tactical variety warrants that you give each player maximum choice of setting up close or far, in cover etc. With a table the size you mention you could easily find one gang dominates with one tactic. Lasgun ganger spam might dominate that table easily and the others might struggle to catch up.

Heres a couple of snaps from some recent games we've been having; both are one 4' by 4' tables and were great fun to play on (the white blobs are sets of Spartan Scenics excellent terrain pack that had'y been painted yet).

I find the Orlock rules work best for the CC models.
