So, we've decided to get started on a Necromunda campaign - maybe this will just be a modelling project, maybe we'll get around to actually playing a bit, but who knows. Here are the contributors, we'll tag each post with the gang title for easy reading. As you can see, there are only five if us so far. If you're in London / Essex and fancy joining in, let us know.

The Gangs

SERPENT'S EMBRACE - Delaque - Notprop - Rating 1505 - 3 Games Played, 2 Wins, 1 Loss
THE HEROINS - Escher - TomCarter - Rating 1436 - 2 Games Played, 2 Wins, 0 Losses
CULT OF DIRT - Cawdor - Panic - Rating 1412 - 3 Games Played, 0 Wins, 3 Losses
THE WASTELADIES - Escher - ArbitorIan - Rating 1230 - 4 Games Played, 2 Wins, 2 Losses
BOYS OF SUMMER - Orlock - Fifty - Rating 1110 - 0 Games Played

The Rules

We're using the rules from the free Living Rulebook, which can be downloaded here - http://www.yakromunda.com/Necromunda-LRB.pdf
All the Outlanders/Outlaws rules and extra expansions and scenarios can be found in the Necromunda: Compilation II at - http://www.arbitorian.com/Necromunda_Compilation_II_V1.pdf

I realise that the NCE rules are a bit better, but we want to use a ruleset that everyone can easily access and agree on, and the NCE Outlanders rules are all over the place, so LRB it is!!

Keeping Track of the Campaign

The campaign is being tracked on Yakromunda - http://www.yakromunda.com - as 'Smog Town' - to join the campaign, create a gang using their generator, but don't list a campaign. Then PM me the name of the gang, and I'll add you to the campaign. You can upload pics and you get cool gang readouts like this...

Playing Games

Our next game session is on Sunday 25th August at the Overlords in Barking - you can find their contact details on their website at http://www.theoverlords.co.uk/find-us

THE WASTELADIES

So, I'm building this gang from a variety of sources - most of the models are from the Dark Age Skarrd range, which are amazingly delicate, grotesque and naked models. This Escher gang must have spent a good amount of time out in the wastes or down near the sump! They're backed up by some very old warzone (I think!!) figures, and the odd 'real' Escher as well as some converted Daemonettes.

yeah,
Looking good Ian. lots of nice complicated looking conversions on rare models.
I've gone the opposite way and gone for a really easy gang.

++ The Cult of Dirt ++
I'm using the chaos cultists from the 40k Dark Vengeance starter set, as counts as Cawdor.
Minimal conversion required, just a few weapon swaps and removal of chaos icons marks horns and spikes...

My leader.

And the rest of the gang.

The great thig about using a almost premade gang is I can get straight to painting!
The Cult of Dirt colour scheme will be green and purple so that I can also use these as cultists in my 40k nurgle army.

I've used humbrol grass green spray to base coat.
I love this stuff and used it for my grot army a couple of years ago and my necrons last year.

The first bits of the base coat have been applied. Brown silver and flesh...

I'll have this gang game worthy in no time!

Panic...

I think Mannahnin is on to something here - this would be a great blog and most likely more suited to being posted in there.

I am actually contemplating using my DV cultists to start a Necromunda gang and would be interested in following this!

Great looking stuff guys can't wait to see you get completely hooked by the resurrected necromunda bug that seems to be going around. Good work with the model selections as well, especially with GW dumping (on) the specialist ranges.

THE WASTELADIES

So, some updates. First, I completed the weapon swaps and conversions. I'm looking at a REALLY close combat oriented gang - 13 starting members, and the longest range weapon is a shotgun!! Plenty of chains and flails in here, and two flamer heavies.

Here's the leader, converted from a Dark Age Grafter, with sword, knife and plasma pistol

And then some gangers, with shotguns and chains, converted from some old Warzone minis?? (I think!!) The cool single-barrel shotguns are from Void Junkers...

This juve is converted from a Diazmonette - I had to chop off the extra boobs and the claws on the feet and sculpted some new shoes. She had her tentacle-hair greenstuffed into a more realistic style and a nose added, and then a new arm from a Mantic zombie..

And two more members - one juve and one ganger, converted from Dark Age Bolas - he original models are male, so I filed down the waists of both of them and re-greenstuffed their torsos - they still look a little hefty but should pass. One had a ponytail added from the topnot of a plastic Daemonette, while the other had a whole new hairstyle which handily hides my terrible boob sculpting

We've then got the two Dark Age Toxic Mistresses converted with some Cadian Flamer ends into Heavies

And two regular gangers with shotguns, one an original Escher and one a Dark Age Buzzblade

SOOO, I got started on some speed painting for the girls. I want them to look REALLY grotty, so I'm going for simple yellow as the only proper colour, and the rest of the scheme made of browns and greys. I'm concentrating on getting them game ready, so here is the first batch with base colours and an all-over wash of Vallejo Black Immersion, which makes them look suitable dirty. They aren't finished by any means - they'll get a lot of tidying and highlighting later, I just want to get the whole gang game-ready for now...

Nice stuff Ian.

Even your quick paint jobs have really highlighted how nicely you have converted them.

I won a Mother lode of Necro stuff last night on eBay and will post up a gang soon as I get it and sort through it. Should be some spare Eschers if you need any extra original models Ian?

And the whole gang together. Now to start highlighting and basing model by model, which might take a while, but at least I can get some games in in the meantime...

I've been very excited about my resin bases!
ForgeCraft waterworks- 25 bases for £10
40p a base - Bargin.

I found two hours today to get them painted.

Sprayed with army painter uniform grey. Painted using GW paints.

And then washed/inked with 'model mates' weathering liquids and GW washes.

Model mates is a alcohol based liquid so after it's dry you can kinda smear and remove it with a damp tissue to get pleasing effects.
When I was happy with the weathering results I sprayed the bases with army painter matt varnish to lock the effects down.

I think this is the First time my bases have been completed before the models!

and the turned to see the other sides.

The teal edge was a last minute thing, mixing scaly green and codex grey... this might be changed to a more dull grey??

I'll be starting off with a nice, regular Orlock gang. BOYS OF SUMMER.

I have a LOT of Orlock models, so kinda want it to be a gang that becomes ridiculously large instead of ridiculously well equipped. I'll only be doing minor conversions to these lads, mostly just weapon swaps probably. The starting roster has a high proportion of juves. Many of them are named after characters from The Wire.

The core of the gang is the gang leader, Stringer, and some recruits from my disbanded "Regulators" gang that I last used in 1994, who were based on the movie Young Guns II. Arkansas Dave Rudabaugh is an absolute badass with stat increases across the board, plus Fast Shot, and ex-juves Rico and Ramirez are both close combat monsters. My two recruited gangers are Wee-Bey and Slim Charles. My juves are Bodie, Poot, Wallace and Puddin'. There will come a time when I recruit Dookie, Namond and Randy...

Using the rules for recruitment of gangers from an old disbanded gang means I actually have a lower starting gang rating than normal, but that just means more glory!

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Huzzah - fifty is involved too!

I'll stick you on the first post...

Surely starting with a lower gang rating, but really advanced members is a huge advantage, right? Doesn't their huge experience total boost the gang rating?

Yes, but to get those advanced members in the first place, you have to pay extra cash for all of their experience points, even the 20 or so you would normally get free on a starting ganger, thus leaving you less money to spend on the rest of the gang. Arkansas Dave Rudabaugh has 121 exp already, so I had to pay 171 credit, plus his equipment, to hire him!

Also, taking lots of juves means they don't get the 20+ free exp points, so that brings down my gang rating too. When you hire a 50-point ganger, he will actually add about 70-75 points to your gang rating. a 25 point juve actually adds 25 points.

Now, in most ways having a low gang rating is a good thing, so I am not complaining. For example, my juves will always have a base cost of 25 credits, even once they reach enough exp to count as gangers in their own right, so will actually allow me to have a better gang for less cost. It does mean I will be starting with a lot of crappy juves though, and I also just remembered they can't have basic weapons, so I need to swap out their lasguns for pistols!

I am so tempted to get the same bases and even paint them the same way!

++ The Cult of Dirt ++

(creds should have read 85...)

++ Wasteladies ++

Game 1 - a quick shoot out.

Chardonnay, Chanel and Courtney out for a walk bumped into Peter Gibbons, Micheal Bolton and Samir Nagheenanajar.

A shoot out was inevitable

and complicated standoff rules occurred.
Each side rolled a d6 each turn, adding to the previous dice rolls until one side totalled 15 or more.
The Cult of dirt lost their nerve rolling 16 ( 6s = 0... ) while the Wasteladies rolled 15.
This means that the cult lost their nerve and went for the guns first.
More dice roll rules dictated the order of firing.

and after the shots rang out Samir was Downed.

The ladies won first turn after the shoot out and downed both Peter and Michael.

With all my guys on the floor, the Cult of Dirt voluntarily bottled out... and fled the area.

Victory Wasteladies.

++
After the game the cult of dirt bought a plasma pistol for Lumbergh and clubs for the Bobs.
Simir lost 1I from shell shock.
Michael bolton gained 1 Ld from ranking up.

the Wasteladies bought a shiny new bolt gun for Leona.
Chardonnay gained the parry combat skill, she also had a real good look at a expensive telescopic sight that proved to be too expensive.
Chanel gained +1Bs from ranking up.
