Necromunda: Compilation I

V1 online again, and available to download at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4104995/Games/Necromunda_Compilation_I_v1.pdf (40Mb). This is a compilation of all the ORB and boxed-set era Journal, Gang War and early Necromunda Magazine rules.

Necromunda: Compilation II

V1 is online, and available to download at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4104995/Games/Necromunda_Compilation_II_v2.pdf (99.2Mb). This is a compilation of all the currently available LRB and Underhive era articles into one handy PDF, with lovely formatting so that it looks like a real Necromunda book. Front cover and table of contents shown below.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

HELLO.

So, I spend a lot of time on flights, and I like to practise my InDesign skills in this downtime. I've been making a few wargaming documents for fun, including an Arbites Codex, 6ed Reference Sheets, etc, all formatted as accurately as possible.

One of the things I've been working on is a single document 'compilation' of all the old Fanatic Magazine and, later, Fanatic Online articles, all formatted like the original documents (since a lot of the later FO articles looked pretty poor). Since I'm now using an iPad to access my hobby-related documents, one big PDF 'book' is a lot more handy for me than lots and lots of individual articles. Sample screenshots are below..

I have a few questions for the community.

- Is this of interest to anyone else?
- I'm currently limiting this to all the articles I can find from the later Fanatic Magazine and Fanatic Online - so all relating to Necromunda-Underhive or the LRB, and including the PDFs from the GW site. I'm excluding earlier articles from the Necromunda Magazine (for first-edition Necromunda) - is this a sensible policy?
- I'm aware that this site features the NCE version of the rules as well, but I've never tried them, and I don't know how compatible they are with all the older PDF articles. Should I try to update the files for NCE, of keep them as is?
- Beyond the generic 'Ash Waste Nomad' gang, I'm not including all the masses of Ash Waste rules - that's enough work for a whole separate book!!
- A list of planned contents is below - let me know if there are other things to include, or better/more up-to-date versions of these rules - particularly the Vehicles rules and the Bestiary!

Nice idea for compilations Ian, very useful as while I have the Fanatic mags I have very little else especially now GW are removing stuff from their site.

If you fancy playing a game of Necro rather than editing it for a change send me a PM and we can sort a few games out. I could do with dusting my Delaques off!

I was just having this conversation with Panic. We're up for a bit of Necromunding - gonna start assembling a gang over the weekend. Maybe if we get a few people we could try a summer campaign?

Cool beans (As I believe the cool kids say).

I'll start reinvigorating my old Delaques then see if inspiration takes me to a new gang.....maybe something where I just stand and fire for a change.

I've also started looking into the Mantic Deadzone stuff. I've never liked Mantic before but that terrain is might tempting all of a sudden?

Yeah,
The mantic terrain looks interesting.

But they have been a bit wooly with exactly how many frames is each of the set ups they've shown.

It's also a lot cleaner than GW terrain and will need busying up and weathered to match in with C.O.D and Munda terrain.

Panic....

I just wanted to say that this looks fantastic.
I've never played Necromunda before but I find it really interesting and hope to start playing soon.

One thing that has caused me confusion is the amount of extra rules available, having a lot of them compiled together helps with that.

I was planning to start playing using the NCE rules, if I do so, does anyone know how the rules in this compendium would transfer over? Is there a big difference?

You can use all these rules with the NCE, they just might not be very well balanced and might need a bit of house ruling.

The compilation is great! I have a few of the old Citadel Journals with added stuff on Necromunda, including one of my favorite (but scary) outlaw gangs... the genestealer cult. If anyone is interested I can try to get it scanned in.

Spider Hunt.

There are a few other ones out there, but this book right now is fanatitastic.

I have a few of the old necromunda mags and the old compilation, as well. Let me dig in and see if theres other stuff to recommend.

As a side question, Does anyone know if the old shool 1st edition Necro. special edition bounty hunter sniper with the great... assetts is out there to be found? I've been looking for her for years and I'm starting to even wonder if she was just someones good idea fairy.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Ian I think I love you!

I have, at the last count 80 separate .pdf files related to Necromunda, and even though I've sorted them into different folders it's still a pain in the arse sometimes when trying to find a specific one...

Absolutely amazing work and as someone with no Necromunda experience one of the bars to entry seems to be the sheer amount of separate rules all over the place.

I've seen you suggest the possibility of a compilation for NCE compatible rules? Are you working on anything like that? I've also seen people on yakromunda discussing something similar but I not really sure.

I'm looking try to have a Necromunda game or two over summer and I'm trying to work out which rules to start with and I was more drawn to the NCE just because I've read they are a bit more refined than the LRB, but have access to codified add-ons might tilt me towards the LRB.
What would you suggest?

Hi there.. Yes, the NCE is definitely the most advanced and 'corrected' rules set. However, a compilation for NCE is impossible at the moment as there simply aren't enough NCE-edition rules. There are a few variant outlander lists flying around but mostly people use house rules. Most of the stuff in Compilation II is pretty much compatible with NCE and only requires a little bit of house ruling.

Anthony Case, who moderates the NCE, is currently planning an NCE-edition of Outlanders, which should include NCE-approved versions of everything that was in the original Outlanders book, but he's not going to update all the stuff in these Compilations to NCE.

Currently, if you want to play NCE, use Compilation II here and either house rule anything that comes up, or find alternative NCE fan-lists floating around the web (particularly for Scavvies and Redemption)...

Thank you for the clear answer, do you know when the NCE version of Outlands is likely to be finished?

I plan to read through both your compilations to get a feel for all the rules, thanks for putting them together.

I hope you don't mind the slight necro.

Firstly, I'm finding this immensely useful, thanks for putting them together!

Just wondering, the Squat Miner Gang rules has page 71 missing, it has been replaced with a duplicate of 69. Is this a mistake in the original article or can I track the page down somewhere?

Also, I just found this and I don't recognise all of these articles are they all in your compilations or are some not?

Thanks!

Ah - well spotted - I'll correct that in the next version.

Most, but not all, of those Yakromunda articles are in the two compilations. There are a few of the Christmas missions missing, and I haven't included the 'Battles in the Ash Wastes' stuff for Second Edition (the Ash Wastes rules for first edition are in Compilation I).

Thanks for the reply!

That's awesome, I'll keep an eye out for an update. I'd love to see you do a compilation of the ash waste stuff you mentioned in this thread btw and any other material come to think of it. These two compilations are astounding, I'd genuinely pay money for them as hard copies if it weren't for copyright issues.

The great thing about necroing this thread is that it means more people see it too!
