Hi, I was hoping that someone could give me some guidelines or rules for the "official or tournament" sizes and scales of terrain, and those made by GW, such as:

For tiered hills, how tall are each tier, normally?
For buildings, what is the height of a normal floor? Like the Cities of Death buildings. What is the clearance from floor to ceiling and how thick is the floor? Is it 3" total?

I read somewhere that "A door should be 1 1/2 inches tall and 1 inch wide" and "The widow should be 3/4 off the ground and should be about 1 inch square." Is that what the Cities of Death have for their doors and windows? The windows look higher, but are they 1" wide?

Are there rules for how high walls or barricades should be to give cover saves, or are there different cover saves for how high they are? By blocking more line of sight, etc.

For the WFB Fortress, how high are the walkways, and the top of the crenelations off the ground?

Thanks for your help.

My most basic rule of thumb is to use a regular model and have a window come up to its waist. Total floor heights are 3". Thickness of floor becomes an irrelevant issue as long as the floors are 3" apart in total. Also, I don't trust the GW plastic terrain, it's completely out of scale. The doors on the mechanicus pieces are titanic by comparison to the models that are supposedly using them. They're like twice the height of a space marine. That's 16 feet! As far as I know there is no "standard size" of anything for terrain, tournament or otherwise. Build stuff that you think looks cool, I say. Take a peak at my terrain here for examples of what I mean.

Also, tiered hills I believe are about an inch or two per tier, but again, use your own aesthetic eye.
