Subject: Primaris Psyker First Attempt at Highlighting
My first post on Dakka, and I'm looking for any tips I can get from you guys! I finished painting this guy last night, still need to base him, but it's my first ever attempt at highlighting using methods other than straight drybrushing and line highlighting. After I basecoated and washed him I used multiple layers of watered down paint on the cloak, head and pants to try and blend up to a highlight. What do you guys think? Any tips or tricks other than loads of patience?
Thanks again, and if you think I could do more to him let me know as well! I haven't finished the whole thing yet so there's plenty of time to make changes!

Looks good, I really like the cape. The face could do with a bit more highlighting, but I find the key to good faces is to build up several layers of thin paint, and repaint most of the face, only doing a little less each time. Overall, great stuff, especially for a first attempt.

You thinking a whole new coat of fresh Orange or maybe just a few more layers to bring out edges? I thought it looked a little off, but I can't quite think of what to do to fix the orange since the lining is flat for the most part.
Automatically Appended Next Post: And I'll definitely throw on a few more layers for the face then, you think maybe bring it up to a pure white? Or just go with a straight flesh?
