Looking for slaan ideas other than the channel slaan. Thought I'd give this a try.

Slaan: Lore Master High Magic, Store a magic die, Power Scroll
Scar Vet: BSB, light armor, enchanted shield, Biting Blade, Egg of Quango
Scar Vet: Cold One, Gamblers Armor, halberd
Scar Vet: Cold One, light armor, Dragon Helm, halberd
Skink Priest: Level 1 beast magic, Forbidden Rod
Skink Pirest: Level 1 beast magic, dispel scroll

2x24 Saurus warriors, full command, spears
3x10 cohorts
20 Temple guard, full command, banner of discipline
2x Bastiladons
2 Salamanders (1 unit, combined for walk between worlds)

So the idea is wait for a magic phase were the winds of magic to be low on dispel dice and pop the rod for + D6 power dice and pop the scroll to cut the casting value or the lore in half.
I should be able to get off a couple of spell, letting me cycle out for spells in other lores to fit the situation.

Store a dice seems to make most sense with reroll dispelled as that increases your chances of having spare dice. Also double scroll for the same reason seems to be the best way to get the most out of that upgrade.

I don't get the cohorts? Why not the skirmishers? Not sure Ld10 is needed with cold blooded.

Egg I prefer on solo characters. Why the BsB separate from the Slaan?

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

I've been doing better with cohorts than skirmishers. 20 point cheaper means that I've got points for 2x10 skimishers or 3x10 cohorts. Might swap out 1 cohorts for 2 krox. 10 skinks + krox have been working pretty well for me.

As for the Egg; I find it best on finishing combat. It's like having a breathe weapon, I can size up combat and crack open the egg when I think I need a boost over the top. I'd take it on the slaan, but you have to be in base to base to use it. The BSB is on the scar vet because I have an awesome conversion, and I actually like splitting him off. I can survive the loss of the slaan if I still have a BSB.
As for the LD10; it's always useful. It's extra protection from spirit leech, it makes my spirit leech better, and buffers against banshees.
With 2 stupidity tests a turn, along with using Bastiladons to block (who lose combat) having the extra point of leadership pays off, every game.

Doesn't the +1 ld not work for spirit leach? It's on I modified leaderships right?

IIRC, the newest FAQ says that Inspiring Presence does work. The Ld9 slaan in the unit with the +1 Ld banner has an Ld10 inspiring presence.

Any chance you can quote that part of the FAQ? I went through the copy and didnt see any mention of it. I'm curious to know as I've been told exactly the same before during a game when I targeted a players rat ogre with it for the easy dice generation.

The spell is pretty clear when it says use the models unmodified leadership. I haven't seen where an FAQ states you may use inspiring presence or when modified inspiring presence can be used.
