Today I had a speer of the moment purchase of a single eldar War Walker. I do eventually plan on buying more, but until then i'd like to ask what is the best load out for a single War Walker in an Eldar force with DE allies (The force is mainly DE through). I was thinking along the lines of maybe double brightlance given that its cheap and effective as a single model, or wondering is I should just go with a simple double scatter for Dakka. I've heard good things about Star/Scatter which I guess would be effective. Should I give them any vehicle upgrades? None of them look worth it, but I might of missed something.

Thanks.

I think you should shelf it until you get more, but if you absolutely must use just the one don't take TBL because it just isn't enough shots on a single model. Go either Scatter/Shuriken or Scatter/Star.

Don't bother with a single Walker. It isn't durable enough to shoot over several turns, and won't put out enough shots in the one turn it gets to be worth the slot its filling. For three, I still run dual Scatter Lasers cause that's a whole lot of shots, but I'd like to try out the dual Bright Lances. That would require tearing the guns off and magnetizing though :( .

With DE you don't really need the brightlances. S6 shooting is what's not readily available to DE, so I'd go for dual scatters.

I disagree with only one not being worth it, as an allied unit it's not taking away any of your DE heavy slots.
With one, you have a better chance of pulling off JSJ behind cover after shooting, making it a cheap and durable unit with 8 s6 shots. Also, outflanking one could be good as well with getting potential side/rear armour shots.

Your right about Dark Eldar lacking strength 6 shooting, but should I go for double scatter, scatter/shuri or star/scatter? And could you explain the differences.

Depends on it's role in your list.

As DE has plenty of poison to deal with MCs and infantry, it's ideal target is light armour like an opposing Venom or Chimera; Scatterlasers for those.
The twin-linking feature of a scatterlaser makes it tempting to go for Scatter+Starcannon but I like the number of shots, especially vs vehicles.
If you start running more than one Walker they become a good candidate to receive Guide/Prescience, in that case the built in twin-link is useless.

Scatter+Starcannon is nice for killing marines or MC's.
But whenever those have an invulnerable save or are in cover the AP2 is mostly wasted.
IMO the range of Shuricannon is too limiting so I rarely take those.

If you don't bring a bunch of Dark Lances then dual Bright Lances is a good option.

On a single Walker, i'd recommend dual scatter lasers. Then outflank the thing and hope you get lucky hitting the rear armour of something important.

But really, you need 2-3 for an effective squad.
