I never played a game under 1500. i don't see the point of playing small games at all. I have turned away many of new players for showing up and thinking they can play me with a 500-1000pts army. so why do so many people play small games. spend the money abd just build a 1500-2000pts armyand be done with it. then start playing 40k.

And the point of your post is what exactly? To say you're cool because you don't play with people who are just getting into the game, and don't know enough to build an effective 1500 point army?

I don't know why I'm bothering but here goes.

There are a number of reasons why someone might want to play a small points game:
They want to try the army before they fully commit to using it.. If somebody runs a 500 pt SM army just to find out they don't like it they save themselves quite a bit of money in the long run.
They may have limited funds and don't want to have to wait 6 months just be able to play.
They might just be starting out and want to play small games so they can learn the rules.

Maybe, just maybe, they enjoy playing a group of games over a couple of hours instead of playing one 3 hour game.

Turning away new players just because they want to play a low-point game is ridiculous. Not as ridiculous as claiming there is only one way to play an army but still ridiculous. Is it that bad to help someone learn the basics before they get thrown to the Wolves?

I had this really long post to explain why you were wrong on every opinion you have, had and ever will have.
But then I realised you were just trolling and I decided to report you.

Probably for the best. However, his narrow viewpoints, horrendous spelling and grammar, and crazy ideas do give me a good laugh.

I really like where he claimed (in a different thread) that there is only one way to run a given army. My group runs Ulthwe, Biel-Tan, and Iyanden Eldar. Believe me when I say that they all have very different play styles.

I don't know, he/she seemed to put a lot of effort into the OP this time compared to previous threads. Maybe we should try and reward him/her (until we see more responses)?

And sub 1500 is always useful for learning things about an army. I play guard, but if I was to start collecting a horde of hormagaunts and raveners for nids I would play a few really low points games to get the hang of the whole running forwards/no shooting thing.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

I enjoy smaller games. We used to regularly play 400pt skirmish games (cant remember what they were called, but it wasn't kill team). I also think smaller games require different strategy. Some armies really shine at lower points levels.
Playing with Kids under the age of 18 is great. I love the enthusiasm.

Why 1500=2000 points? Why don't you have a 3000 point army? I mean if you can have 2000, you should be able to buy 3000 points. Does this make you a less of a person because now you are not playing at 3000 points?

When you say you turn people away, it's almost like saying you are better than them. This is how your post looks. You are not better than anyone because they play with less points.

Plenty of good reasons are given why people play less points. I really hope you feel bad now for turning away a potential great people to be playing with.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Your club sounds like a club for stuck up people with sticks in places where the sun doesn't shine.

And it looks like you write on a pad with autocorrect on it with your face.

I really want to know where this guy plays (club name, location, phone number). I really, REALLY want to try my armies against this group.

Remember, don't feed the trolls. Just press the yellow triangle of friendship!

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Whats less amusing is people piling on instead of just reporting the post and moving on.

Regardless of your opinion of the motivation of a poster, Dakka's Rule #1 is to be polite. There are a number of posters in this thread who need to keep this in mind when posting.
