Has anyone tried this tactic?

30 gretchins, 3 runtherds and Mad Doc going after anything close, with FNP and fearless, this could potentially bog down a unit or two.

Is it worth the points cost to effectively field a suicide unit?

Another thing to consider is if your opponent is running a lot of strength 6+ shooting would destroy your gretchin as it would ignore your FnP or even worse if they have enfeeble and strength 4+ would ruin your day.

Mhmm that is very true! It sounded a much better tactic in my head haha. Still tempted to try it, as they would (hopefully) aim their shots at the gretchin tar pit, giving my boys a bit of a safer run up!

True! However a mob of fearless gretchins charging at you, the whole mob will have to be taken out or else they're gonna be locked in combat!

Why not have orks instead for a slight increase and actually use FNP, the whole point of grotsnik?
