PaintWorks by Game Decor is a specially formulated paint for use with table top terrain. Designed to be used with plaster, resin, and foam, PaintWorks does not require a primer before being applied. The Kickstarter currently has 4 paint kits to choose from, with more available as stretch goals are met.

If you have an abundance of dungeon pieces from a certain KS that you backed, then this is the paint for you

I've always used cheap craft srore paint and matt varnish for my terrian and always got good results. (especaily when then going in after the mat coat and picking out details with my washes and modle paints.) from the pitchers i dont realy see any jump in quality from what i already do, and in some cases feel my process looks bettet.

Maby this kickstarter just isnt for me, because i just dont see the appeal.

Kling is this your personal KS, or just one that you came across?

Well then I'm in. I'm all about the oldschool HA forum members. I need to order some new molds and get back to work on some new terrain already.

no worries, if you don't think it's for you, then it's probably not

the kits are aimed at beginning painters and people that don't want to mess with mixing, thinning, or picking the right color. the kids in the picture are 8 and 10 years old and they were able to make some great looking pieces with the most minimal of instruction. i.e. i told them how to apply the base coat, told them how to dry brush and which colors to do it with, and they took it from there on their own.

And backed. The 4 pack should be enough for a decent bit of themed terrain, and if it works well I'll buy more to paint up my Secret Weapon rolling fields board when it arrives next year.

Pretty simple idea and concept. I might be in for a couple of sets after payday.

I usually use good old craft paint as well, but I'm all about supporting the small business guy.

For me it's a matter largely of convenience. I've been saying for YEARS "I'm just gonna have Home Depot make me a few paints for terrain" and here I am 10 years later having never done it. I didn't want to take the time and test out samples to come up with a set of colors that meshed well together, then test for all the little properties we nerds care about like durability, shine, will it eat foam etc.

The other part is that this is a KS from someone who I've "known" for years on the HA boards and who has been a service to that community. At the end of the day, it's ~$9, so even the risk is quite minimal for backers.

This is the reason I just backed it as well, convenience. These paints look like they would work great for basing models as well, and the kits cost significantly less than 3 tiny GW paints.

Itar's Workshop swears by PaintWorks

Taken from their latest update:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/554948184/itars-workshop-dungeon-terrain/posts/585208

We have partnered with Game Decor to provide the paint for our painted sets.
I was going to use other paint but after evaluating this paint it was no contest. It's easy to use and very durable. I tested it by rubbing it with a brush for over 30 minutes (unsealed) and it didn't even make a mark. The only other paint I tested that did that well was house paint but that was much thicker than the Game Decor stuff. We aren't using the colors exactly as the kits recommend but it works out. Basically I'm using the base coat as the first coat and using the native color of the piece as the base. I will be doing a tutorial on painting the dungeon pieces when I have time.

Check them out here.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/klingbeil/game-decors-paintworks-terrainpaint

Here's a shot of a test piece that I did with the paint and put through the torture tests. As you can see there's no marks from being rubbed by a toothbrush. I didn't do the floor as a separate color since this was just a test piece and that would have taken longer (I have one or two other things on my plate right now).

It looks especially great on those floor pieces. I can't wait to get my Secret Weapon table to use this on! Perfect timing for it to come out IMO, since those tables will start shipping in 2 months.

Put in a $35 pledge for one of each of the 4 but that isn't what I am actually after. Although that will do if I have to, how do I order two of each except for the Egyptian one?

Also, care to take a stab at a color set for Wild West buildings? I have 18 of them and no idea how to start!

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

to specialize your order, choose a base level that resembles at least one of what you want (for instance the Gothic Stone kit) and when it asks you how much you want to pledge, change the value at the top to however much will cover everything you want.

Gothic Stone x 2 = $18
Field Stone x 2 = $20
Cavern Stone x 2 = $18
Total = $18 + $20 + $18 = $56

if you live outside of the united state, also add an additional $22 for shipping.

also, the Aged Wood might look good for a well kept tavern floor and i have a Fresh Wood kit that might look good on the outside for that sun bleached wood style. the next kit available after the Molten Lava will be up for a vote after the first stretch goal is achieved. only backers will be allowed to vote on what kits are made available as additional stretch goals.

Here's an example of the Aged Wood kit that is available at the $5k stretch goal mark.

HURRAY! We are funded! Thank you everyone!

Since stretch goals are next - what is the general consensus on the Molten Lava kit?
Would everyone like to keep that as the stretch goal after the Aged Wood or does everyone want something else instead?

I'd be interested in a limestone/ white rock set. A darker black stone set would also be nice for my Dark Elves.
