For CSM I like to run heavy shooting units, however been having a difficult time making it work. This is an idea I conjured up (with my favor for terminator style play), and I have no idea if it will work at all.

HQ

Chaos Lord- MoN, Burning Brand, PF, TDA - 160

Sorcerer - ML3, TDA - 135

Elites

3x Chaos Terminators - 3x Combi Plasma, MoN - 130

Troops

7x Plague Marines - 2x Plasma guns, Chaos Rhino - 233

10x Cultists - 50

10x Cultists - 50

Fast Attack

Heldrake - Baleflamer - 170

Heldrake - Baleflamer - 170

Heavy Support

Forgefiend - Hades Autocannon - 175

3x Obliterators- MoN - 228

I guess my plan here is to deepstrike/footslog the Chaos Lord attached to the Terminators, and do the same with the Sorcerer Attached to the Obliterators. Planning on rolling off telepathy or biomancy for my powers. Use Plague Marines to move upfield in hope to claim/contest objectives. Cultists on the table or in reserve for my objectives. Heldrake for setting the world on fire. Forgefiend to put out as many str8 shots as I can. Any thoughts?

Just my opinion but I'd stick the cultists as a 20man blob, saving you a few points to put Votlw on the obliterators. If you do get in combat with them against some marines, the re-roll misses in that first round could win you the combat.

I can't see this list doing well I am afriad. You have two armoured units, both are not that hard to tackle. You will then have your HQs and Terminators in reserve along with the two Heldrakes, that leaves 20 Culists, Plague Marines and some Oblterators to tackle. You are also at the mercy of the reserves and it stands to chance one unit will not make it in.

I would get a few more Rhinos for a start. Then throw in an ADL with comms relay so you get the +1 reserves.
