So I am trying to build a competitive Necron army for games that will be anywhere from 1500pts to 1850pts
I currently have these models, and am willing to purchase more
44 warriors
12 scarab bases
1 ghost ark
6 wraiths
1 destroyer lord
1 Necron Overlord
1 necron lord with Orb
I need some advice as to what models I should buy in order to make a competitive force for matches up to 1850pts
Thanks

Given what you have I would suggest the "silver tide" approach. Field your warriors in three lots - a mob of twenty with the Overlord attached (MSS, RO, SW, WS), a mob of 14 with the Lord attatched (MSS, RO, SW, WS) and the last ten castled in the ghost arc.
Field your Destroyer lord (MSS, RO, SW, WS) with the Wraiths so that he can take the hits with his 2+ save and allow the wraiths to reach their target unscathed (hopefully).
Scarabs, just field a full unit of ten bases and have the enemy waste a lot of firepower trying to keep them from key targets.
Finally, I would reccommend getting a couple of Anihilation Barges as they are excellent firepower and reasonably hard to kill. They also have a reputation and tend to scare opponents into changing their tactics to deal with them.
Also,
The list I would build would be:
HQ
Overlord - w/ MSS, RO, SW, WS.
-Royal court: Lord - w/ MSS, RO, SW, WS.
Destoyer Lord
Troops
Warriors (20)
Warriors (14)
Warriors (10) - w/ Ghost Arc
Fast Attack
Scarabs (10)
Wraiths (6) - w/ 3x Whip Coil
Destroyers (3)
Heavy Support
Anihilation Barge - w/ Tesla Cannon
Anihilation Barge - w/ Tesla Cannon
Total = 1832pts
The only additional models you would need to field this list is two AB's and 3x Destroyers.

^ This.
However, I would field a pair of Spyders rather than 3 destroyers. Better synergy with the list.

Just 3 changes to what tameyeti said. The destroyer lord does not need a ro if running with wraiths as they dont have rp. And second, run the scarabs in 2 6s. Makes the enemy split fire and he has to finish the 'unit' off twice now since he cant even leave 1 base alive. Dropping the orb will pay for those 2 extra bases.
Also destroyers are meh - drop the 3 and get another barge and have 30pts to play with. Automatically Appended Next Post: Or get the spiders markcron suggests

thanks for the response guys I appreciate it
think I will go with the list mentioned, minus the destroyers, and plus barges, and maybe the spyders. also was considering picking up some heavy destroyers from a friend for cheap, are they worth the investment in points, and money?

60 pts for a t5 3+ save 1w lascannon is awful. Its just asking to be shot at. Youd need 3 in a squad to be reliable and 3 normals to be 40pt meatshields. That means youre paying 300pts for 3 lascannons pretty much. Total rip off. Automatically Appended Next Post: Have'nt got my codex to hand but i may be getting mixed up with max squad size for wraiths. If you can only have 5 destroyers in a squad that'll be 260pts with 3 hgcs but only 2 meatshields so itll be going down even quicker!

I somewhat agree with Poly Ranger. I find that 3 heavy destroyers while expensive, are useful because of the PE, the longer range and the S and AP.
Mixing them isn't worth it. Instead I try and use heavy destroyers in a list where there are other threats (I normally use scarabs and wraiths).
They are certainly expensive, but they provide fast high strength shots. Also handy in CC - after shooting at the unit!
