after me and the wife finished moving into our new place ... i finally got a chance to start setting up my area ... and i have noticed that the table i planned to use is way to big ... having space is nice ... but a lot of it feels wasted ... the table i am using right now is 8' by 3' (one of the folding tables) and it is mostly the depth of it that is bugging me ... have thought about building a shelf on the back part of it .. but if i do that i would almost wrather build a desk that better fits what i am needing ...

does anyone happen to have some basic plans on a mini painting desk that i can use as a guideline? or an image or two of what you have built (if you built something) so i can get some ideas to start toying around with ... hope to buy the wood this weekend and get it made so i can get this big table out of here and reclaim some of this space.

i was at dick blick the other day and they had some nice small sized art tables that had adjustable heights that seem good. I wish i had that much room.

I use a small drafting table i got with the 40% off coupon from micheals and it works good. I put shelves up on the wall in front of me for stuff i use occasionally. I also made a 3 tiered paint rack with some chap 1 x 3 stacked up.

i guess because my arms are short it feels like wasted space to me ... one smaller work area with more shelves and such would let me stack stuff up more ... may try to make some shelves for the back first and if it still feels that way then work on a new desk part.
