Yes, the new codex is coming out soon. Still, I think the principle will stay similar, and if anything, I'll have points to spare if the rumors are true. So, without further ado, do you think it is competitive? How can I improve it?

NOTE: SECOND LIST HAS BEEN EDITED TO REMOVE DEV SQUAD AND INCLUDE TFC

Simple enough, sternguard are scoring, put pedro in one of the more equiped group, put the snipers in cover and shoot, stormtalons are anti air, preds pop anythign the meltas shouldnt get near.

Compare that to:

I like the second list better. And from the rumors on chapter tactics, it should get more milage from them. Grab the free HBs in the tac squads.

But both lists look they should work. We'll see what's up in a couple of weeks as for which one will work better in the new codex.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! Thanks for pointing out the heavy bolter addition, forgot its not just the regular bolt gun that gets the bolter drill rule. Will update the list accordingly. My hopes is that with the drop pods, I can take out any ground AA fast, the the two storm talons will mop up the rest of the fliers and I can have air superiority. Itd be nice to have a couple twin linked assault cannons firing wherever I need them, and 6 str7 shots is not bad either for the points. I like the second list better as well, I dont think I'd really need the lazcannons too often, since I have both the melta and the fliers.

I know the actual pts cost for the new Dex are not yet known, but I think you should check out your last list. Even taking into account the rumoured pts drop of Sternguards, the point total for those squad are off (should be 315).

Also, remember that Drop pod are now Transport Capacity 10, so Pedro will need to ride with the Devastator or make a run for it - not a good idea! Maybe you could cut a Sternguard or two in one of the squad to make space for him, and then use the points to buy a cheap Scout squad for camping or Outflanking late game.

Anyway, I like the list, hope I could help a little!

Ya, my last list I forgot to put a "X2" after the tacticals. Everything else looks good for the current dex. And you are right I forgot to add the drop pod into the sternguard point cost. I'll just take out a sternguard for the drop pods when the change comes. Thanks for the corrections!

I just have to say if that 2nd list starts to show up in tournoments it could get very interesting, being able to drop pod and combat squad that many threats turn one is pretty mean.

With SM also having decent cheap AA in the form of talons i can see that being a very good list.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I'm sure my FLGS tourneys will love the fact that I will be bringing the second list sundays from now on haha. Can't wait for the new dex to drop, the list will get nothing but more powerful (everything will be less points and just as strong, barring losing a single sternguard to make room for kantor haha).

You actually don't have to kill a sternguard for kantor, SM pods can hold 12 for some odd reason

Only way I can see to cut the points and still keep a similar composition would be to fiddle the drop pods and drop the odd sternguard. I can only assume you can still take 2 special weapons per squad regardless of the squad size (although I just noticed you're using combi-weapons only)
Here's a thought; cutting the devs and their pod for a thunderfire cannon would leave you with 5 points spare... you still get 3 pods on the first turn.
