Hello Dakka,

Coming off the back of a fairly horrific (and admittedly embarrassing) loss, I feel in the need to write something more competitive then my current thrown together force. So after some though and a couple of pointers from the guy who beat me with 40% of his force still in reserves.....

Rune Priest - 130
Runic Armour
Chooser of the Slain
Living Lighting
Jaws of the World Wolf

4 Wolf Guard - 187
Terminator armour (4)
Power Weapon (4)
Combi Melta (4)
Drop Pod

7 Grey Hunters - 155
Wolf Standard
Melta Gun
Drop Pod

8 Grey Hunters - 170
Wolf Standard
Melta Gun
Drop Pod

8 Grey Hunters - 170

Melta Gun

8 Grey Hunters - 170
Wolf Standard
Melta Gun

6 Long Fangs - 185
Missile Launcher (5)
Drop Pod

6 Long Fangs - 185
Missile Launcher (5)
Drop Pod

Aegis Line - 70
Comm Beacon

Company Command - 80
Master of Ordnance

Platoon Command - 40
Autocannon

Infantry Squad - 60
Autocannon

Infantry Squad - 60
Autocannon

2 Vendetta - 280
Heavy Bolter Sponsons

This all comes out to 2002 points

There are enough drop pods to land the 4 squads with the grey hunters/wolf guard/ rune priest first turn. Long fangs add some shooty punch where needed, guard are to claim any home side objectives. Vendetta's are to break any fliers and are almost a dead cert to be one on turn two.

Now, i don't like being a but i am fairly fed up of using the snow shovel technique against my opponents, so is this a bit too broke?

Thanks
shiny

Course, not giving SPACE wolves anything that flies is a pretty good way of making sure I'll never make it there to begin with.

Might want to consider if the terminator armor is worth it on the WG, and if your using them as a bullet magnet why spend points on the power weapons.

Depending on what this list is facing flamers on 1 or 2 units with flamer combi weapons might be usefull.

2 Rune priests are better than 1 try to get another one even if you have to drop something off.

The Priest can either sit in the blob squad or get dropped. The only thing better than one drop pod jaws against tau/tyranids/deamons is 2.

Otherwise go for it, you have a decent fire base in the IG/Longfangs. A Legitimate threat in the podded wolves and enough anti air/tank busting in the 2 flyers.

Okay, I can see the point on 2 run priests :p

if I drop the terminator armor and the power weapons, plus some other little goodies (autocannons/heavy bolters) I can fit the second priest in, but that leaves all the drop pod with one spare space.

If I want that filled something is going to have to give with the guard.

Losing Master of the ord would fill two, and changing the platoon for vets would account for all of it, but I'm unwilling to lose the 2 scoring units, makes a sudden attack at my rear that much more dangerous. Master of the Ord can be lost though, as I'm not sure how much I like the idea of an ordnance weapon that always scatters going down next to all my wolves...

So that leaves two filled pods, 2 rune priests with 2+, 4 combi weapons (we don't play wysiwyg so, not too fussed there) 4 melta for MEQ or flamer/melta mix (all flamer would allow for another filled pod) and a solid back wall unchanged bar the Master of the Ordnance.

On a limited/central terrain board, deploy guard and wolves behind aegis line on one side, land the wloves on the other, they then work there way towards each other. Move for objectives as they come. Be prepared to lose first blood and warlord. Take warlord and line breaker.

More of a central alleyway field. Guard/long fangs in the center behind the line, drop 2 pods on either side. use spare for annoyance/storm bolter shenanigans.
