Hello all! My name is Thomas, I do all the 3D animation for WarGamer Girl on YouTube.
I just finished a project that I had 3D printed. I made molds for the pieces out of silicone rubber and poured this finished one out of resin.

There are 33 pieces to the main tower and each of the little "obelisks" is a 2-piece model.

So, after making the model we decided to try our hand at doing a KickStarter project with it.

It took a few months to model these in 3D Studio MAX, but it was a lot of fun.
If you guys have any questions about the process leave a post. I'll be more than happy to answer questions.
Thanks!

looking really sweet Been massive into clockwork/steampunk for a little while

A few questions:
You used a 3D printer to print the mould? Or you printed the obelisks and the cast them into rubber for a mould? Little confused by your wording.

Did you outsource the 3D printing? or do it yourself? As I am currently in the process of perhaps building a 3D printer and wondered how you found the printing process? (if you did it yourself ofc). When you said it took 3 months to model it, how much real time was that? (all day every day? or like a few hours a week? ) Haven't used any design packages other than Catia.

Favourite Game: When your Warboss on bike wrecks 3 vehicles simply by HoW - especially when his bike is a custom monowheel.

I modeled each piece in a 3D program, then sent the files to Shapeways.com to have them print the pieces. I used the Frost Ultra Detail material as it has the highest detail. There were 13 unique parts for the tower and 2 unique parts for the little obelisks.
After I received the printed parts from Shapeways, I created silicone rubber molds for each part. Then I poured resin into the molds to create replicas.
I hope that clarifies things.

I can't believe I didn't mention the size of the thing. It stands about 10 1/2" tall and sits on a 120mm base.
Overall It was a pretty costly. The 3D prints (in the Frost Ultra Detail) were several hundred dollars for all the pieces. The silicon molds were a little pricy as well.

Awesome work. Nice unique terrain.

I backed you guys, by the way. Looking forward to painting up one of these myself.

ETA: didn't realize I already posted in this thread. Time to go to sleep.

We've just added more to the project:

We should have some more models created soon.
