Subject: Moldy old bones?

I'm planning on starting a Kings of War undead/WH Vampire Counts army with lots of Skeleton warriors.
I don't like the clean bone effect for undead and seeing as my Eldar force is bone coloured armoured, it would all look quite samey in my display case!
Anyway, I'm after a nice old moldy scheme. I was thinking of mayber a grey base coat, drybrushed with... what?! A lighter grey? White?
Then maybe throw some agrax/sepia/green washes on them bones?

Try something like rotting flesh and a darker grey/brown drybrush over a white primer before washing with sepia - should give a reasonably mottled look to your bones. I would certainly agree with adding in some green, possibly even blue and purple washes to some areas before washing with sepia.
Also perhaps thinking about adding small amounts of fine sand, regular sand and flock onto the models to give the impression of bone cancers/other diseases if painted as bone, or paint in other shades to give the impression of fungus.

I will give that scheme test run this weekend, time permitting.
Thanks, SIlverMK2

I'd paint them clean (it's easy), then just apply a few little washes of a dirty greenish colour here and there. Generally it's more realistic (and faster) to add dirt as a finishing touch than as part of the actual paint scheme.

Pigments would probably give a more moldy look than paints. A dark and a light green, maybe some light and dark brown in spots, over normally painted bone.

Thanks everyone, some great suggestions here.
Looks like I'll be going through two boxes of Skellies at this rate, though!
I already have Army Painter Skeleton Bone spray, so that's half the job done.
