So I'm planning to scratch build some Dreadnought Autocannon arms. I just purchased some styrene tubing and card-stock to attempt it. But before I start I'm reaching out to the community for some help. If you know of any tutorials or have done anything similar to this and have some tips and tricks I would be happy to hear from you.

I've found pictures of what I would like to do.
Spoiler:

I like the autocannons on the bottom of this set of pics but I don't think I'll be able to pull it off.
Spoiler:

If anyone knows where to find a good tutorial or some more pictures of the scratch build process please let me know.

Thanks for your time.

They look excellent. Nice work. I'm pretty sure the last set of weapons you posted afe not scratchbuilt. They look like they are from robogear or something.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Look great so far. Building guns that arent just a barrel sticking out of a box isnt easy. All the little details that guns require are what make people fail at it.

And i agree with Flinty they'll probably be as good as the ones you posted when youre done. i can tell thats the basic form with no real work done to it and it already looks pretty good.

Those are WAY nicer than my attempt. They would be acceptable as is! Looking forward to seeing your results

Added magnets to the joints and some extras to the canons.

Those look pretty good. Still look sort of plain, but I think its more that they aren't painted yet.

Don't forget the ammo boxes. Autocannons fluff-wise go through a lot of ammo. Might want to add a robotic arm on the back of the dread that reloads the cannons, similar to how the rocket launcher marine model has a backpack with a robotic reloader arm. Just my suggestions.

Looks good!

I think that the parts from the quad-gun could make some good dread autocannons.

Those things look sweet! I am very interested in hearing what exactly you used (Ive been looking around for that Styrene tubing you'd mentioned and bought some basic card stock but Im not sure if it'll do the same effect). Any help ?

I bought everything off Amazon. Tubing I got is the variety pack. Flat cardstock is .04 which isut 1mm. But you also need 1/4" square tubing 1/4" - 1/8" rectangle tubing. And 3/16" channel.

The rectangle and square tubing was used for the structure of the gun. Which is way easier then cutting all the cardstock the right size.

Go on YouTube and find tutorials for working with styrene. They helped me out more then anything. Basics of cutting and gluing. Bu the way this stuff needs special glue too.

awesome!

Looks great, thanks for sharing. I think they may be a tad too big for my personal tastes, but that is very subjective.

I think you did a great job! Can't wait to see what you build next.

Looks nice and well executed.

I think you missed one thing though. In the current range of models from GW the defining feature of an Autocannon seems to be the two vents on each side of the muzzle brake.

While your work certainly works very well as is, and shouldn't be the cause of any kind of confusion, it is worth keeping in mind for future projects.

It is like keeping the coolant ribbing that says; "Plasma Weapon" or the distinctive muzzle that says; "Melta Weapon" in mind, If you know what I mean.

Good work.
