Curious to know if using laser pointers to establish line of sight are kosher.
Thanks!

Well, its perfectly acceptable to most people, using TLOS with a laser pointer is impossible to cheat as long as both players observe properly, so I don't really see how anoyone even COULD object.
|
I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can. |

It's kosher, GW still sells laser pointers for this purpose.

i'd get multiple laserpointers if i were you. We did this for awhile with a medium-priced green one and kept losing the dang thing lol but it solved a lot of LOS issues especially when theres a lot of distance covered (like youre 10-15" behind that wall but are you still covered? if laserpointer hits the ankles of infantry then no you arent)

Nope it isn't!!!! Due to the issues of scale a lasor pointers beam isn't as affected by gravity as a real life beam of light would be, meaning that it totally ruins the realism!!!!
Jokes aside, I couldn't see a reason why you shouldn't use it.

No, lasers are unfit for consumption by anybody!

Been used for a long time in mini war gaming. I still have mine from the 90's. I play with my cat with it...

I did have someone try to 'explain' to me that los dropped over distance.
I raged.

We use the laser leveler ourselves. It's a lot nicer since it creates a line across the table that can be easy to use rather than the pointer. I highly suggest the leveler
over the pointer.

That aint a bad idea actually. Just make sure you get the one that still shines, some of them are like laser mice and when they notice they arent touching a surface they shut off.

Not they don't?
Its not on their site anyway.
That aside, the only possible issues with laser points is that its TOO good. as in, overkill and you are spending too much effort.
If anyone ever argues against, it will be weird.

Hmm well they have an old one at my local GW anyway. If nothing else, I remember when they sold them regularly in-store.

For 5th edition GW released a bunch of special edition laser sighting thingies. Rather than just a dot it had a dodgy reticule thing.
I was really tempted by a cheap fibre optic inspection camera for getting LOS, but it was still jsut a bit too expensive for a gimmick
