From Joystiq

Overhaul Games' rejuvenated Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition will be available for PC and Macs on November 15, the company announced today on its official forums. Android tablet and iPad versions "will follow soon afterwards." Meanwhile, the Mac and PC versions are already available for pre-purchase at $24.95 through Beamdog.

Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition includes recreations of the original Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn and its expansion pack, Throne of Bhaal. Additionally, four new characters (and their associated quests) are included in the PC/Mac releases, but iOS/Android users will need to download this content as DLC. Whether this DLC comes at a price, however, was not specified, but we're checking.

Update: Beamdog's Trent Oster has informed us that these four characters will be paid DLC on the mobile versions, but that the iOS/Android releases of the game will have a lower cost of entry as a result.

I had a decent amount of fun with their "enhanced" BG1, despite a few troublesome bugs. Very much looking forward to this, as its one of my top 5 games of all time.

Now I need to do a play through of BG1 again.

I was real excited about BG:1, played it for a while, then just stopped for some reason.

I'll pick this one up, as long as the price is similar to before.

Will they actually improve the core game? I was sorely dissapointed that BG1 EE turned out to just be "High def BG1 with new NPCs".

I'd like to see new spells, new charector classes, new quests (not related to the new NPCs), new items.

Well apparently

Additionally, four new characters (and their associated quests) are included in the PC/Mac releases

So while they are probably NPCs doling out quests, they may become party members of something as well, rich girl style (name escapes me, Nadia?)

I wasn't impressed by the BG1 Enhanced Edition, I just bought the old school version of BG2 off of gog.com for 10 bucks. Much more worth it imo

Easily one of my favourite RPGs, will buy it again.

I can't stomach paying for the game a 3rd time.. even if there is a little bit of "extra content". Minsc is the only other character you need anyways. Now if they made boo a character with levels I might consider buying it again.

Boo is small and evasive, and there is ever so much of Minsc to search.

There are already mods that add everything that the BG1 'enhanced' edition added, except that they do it for free. If they genuinely added something new and worthwhile i would happy pay the relatively small price that they are asking, but as they don't I won't.

I do not. I regard Minsc in much the way I regard Monty Python; probably at least mildly amusing when it was original, but bludgeoned to agonizingly not-amusing death by nerd culture repetition.

Ah, well my only exposure to minsc is either in the BG games or in this thread. And my guinea pig, which I named Boo. Thats the extent of my experience with him, which probably helps keep him likeable.

This.

Also, here are things I would actually like in BG2:EE:

*More spells, higher level spells balanced (I know mods have done the second one of these, but I would prefer it done 'professionally')

*More scaling to player level.

*New monsters!

*New stronghold quest

*New low-level quests that you can do strait out of Irenicus' dungeon.

*New magic items - rings, cloaks, etc.

Squatting with the squigs

It's awesome , I am enjoying playing through it again.

One thing i really noticed early was how hard games were in 1999. I popped out of the nashkell mines and died about 14 times to the guys in the north of the map. Deciding those guys were too hard i then went down to the south of the map and died 8 times to the wizards and the mustard jellies - though I did kill the mage and loot his stuff before running away the last time.

I think its probably worth it if you want to try it on Ipad ect. But otherwise it doesnt add all that much for the extra cost. I dont think they have added the multiplayer enhancements they claimed they would in the first game.

Wasn't too impressed by BG1:EE but I loved the original so I will pick it up eventually. Probably when it goes on sale like BG1:EE has done recently.
