What price hike exactly??? Model wise or point per model???

I thought some of the models are a little more expensive. Like the new tactical squad. iirc, they used to be closer to 35.

Ahh.. Well, honestly they have been doing that a little more lately with the new packages coming out for the releases...

But some are not so bad, 1-2-3 dollars more... Can't say I don't agree the price hikes in even small amounts is really.... "nice".... but what can you do.... They will milk us for loving the game, and we will X_x zombie---------------Brains.....

I honestly enjoy the game but this kind of price hiking just makes me unhappy...

It seems every new product that comes out has an instant price hike attached to it. In this case with the tac and sternguard you get what you pay for. Even tho plastic models cost less to make over time.

The bikes used to be 15 USD for one bike, 45 USD for 3. The new bike box is 40 USD for 3, hardly a price hike.

There is no price hike.

There is a new tactical kit with vastly superior sculpts and vastly more options for a negligible 5.6% price increase when the extra bits cost more than the difference on the secondary market, especially the Combi-Bolter.

There is an extremely expensive new kit for each veteran squad type, but seeing as all the bits you get from them were hard to get before (power armor LC, TH, SS, Combi-Bolters) and the sculpts are so detailed and still less expensive than Forge World, it's not bad.

There is a new vehicle kit for the typical vehicle price.

There is a bundle that forces you to buy a Razorback and Command Squad to get a plastic Chaplain, but the bundle actually SAVES you money. Unheard of for GW in 2013.

There are new plastic HQs that are extremely overpriced compared to other similar products, but seeing as they are completely new, you can't hike a non-existent price.

In reply to the topic: New sculpts to existing units are similarily-evenly priced and entirely new units are more expensive as always.
As to my interest how do you go from Japan to the USA in 12 hours?

The only good thing about this, is now we can stock up on what we collect before we get a new
codex. Thing is, is this GW plan?

I think the price of the new tactical squad did go up from AUD $62 to $65, but that's a pretty negligible rise, coupled with a beautiful new kit it's doesn't matter.

My bad on the bike front, swore i saw bike.

Anyways OT: Sternguard got a much needed material change, add a ton of new options with new poses too. Plus prices have been goin up on everything because of the price of oil, inflation etc. This new codex is also much bigger than its preceding books, and the tacs got new poses and weapons for a tiny hike.

Come to think of it, replace bikes with vanguard vets (remove the 3 and 1, add 5 in) and my earlier statement is now right.

While the price hikes are normally annoying, in this case I'm so pleased to have Sternguard and Vanguard Vets in plastic I can't find it in me to complain.

I'll save that for the Centurions.

All working in my native GPB

Tactical Squad went up £2, adding MkVI and MkIV parts, combi weapon, grav weapons and other minor options. Justified.

Vanguard cost roughly the same but are now multipart posable plastic with many, many cool bits like Relic Blades, 4 pairs of LC, 4 pairs of TH and SS and a Power Axe..

Sternguard went up roughly £5, but now have 2 of each Combi Weapom, 1 of each special weapon, detailed armour parts, an optional head crest, and can mix and match with basically any power armour kit. Plus if push comes to shove you can even use the modular Combiweapon from the Tac Squad. Justified to me.

Hunter/Stalker. Brand new but only £5 more than other HS Rhino tanks, but is a dual kit so that's fine, plus its an awesome kit.

Centurians. What the feth. £50.

Captain is basically the AoBR captain with a reposed arm, new gun, Mk8 collar and different heads (although they are usable with other kits). Too expensive compared to the Commander box

Librarian is expensive compared to the Finecast guy with the same gear. Too expensive.

Chaplain averages out to just £9.50 after the Razorback and Command Squad are taken away, which is excellent compared to the other Finecasts at £11. Plus, plastic. The bare head puts me off but thats preferance and he has the traditional skull.

Most of the new stuff is actually kind of a pleasant surprise. The Tactical squad seemed to be long overdue a price hike compared to other races' basic kits (Dire Avengers anyone?) and while they did go up, the extra stuff it comes with now justifies that rise.

While Sternguard and Vanguard seem a bit much on the face of it, they're in keeping with other "elite" 5-model choices that are available in Finecast, but they get all those different parts and hence spare weapons etc. as a result too. That's got to be an improvement over the old models, which were nearly as much for single-pose with fixed wargear.

The Hunter and Stalker... hrmmm. Not a fan of the increase on those - I can see that they use more plastic with the extra side bits, but to me it seems like an excuse to charge more for them. Likewise the Centurions don't seem to be worth that much for just 3 models, though I can appreciate they have a *lot* of extra bits to cover both unit types, the fact that those bits aren't as changeable as standard Marine bits diminishes their worth.

The Captain and Librarian are just utterly ridiculous.

Price hikes happen. Do a waybackmachine search of gw 5 years ago, models were 10-15 dollars less than they are today. I'm used to it. You gotta pay to play I guess

The Space Marine kit went up by $2.50 and you get a lot more options. I don't mind one bit since you're getting so much more with it. The Codex costs more than other codices, but is almost twice as long as they are, coming in at 176 instead of the average 100~ that they are. Vanguard vets went down in price a little for a ton more options, Sternguard vets went up in price a little for a ton more options. I think the Sternguard and Vanguard sets should both cost $40, but oh well. Centurions cost too much and I'd expect them to be around the Deathwing Terminator pricepoint of $60, the stalker I'd expect to cost the same as the Predator, and the characters are overcosted compared to similar blister pack plastic characters.

All in all, some things cost a little too much, some things are reasonable. Nothing doubled in price for half the models, so it could be worse.

The Chaplain bow set is only a good deal if you want the razorback and the extra marines (which I have plenty of both), and can afford to drop all that cash at once. Even a 20 dollar Chaplain would be better than the "deal".

And the Captain and Librarian should be $20 which would still be too expensive. But tons of people are going to gladly run in and pay $30 for them, so go figure. GW wouldn't price things so high if they couldn't do that and still make enough sales to turn a profit.

With the tactical, sternguard, and vanguards being where they're at... I'm pretty content with the pricing. I greatly prefer price increases with each new kit to annual readjustments.
