Subject: Pulse Parade- Tau 2000 points

Focused Fire Warrior

So basically I'm aiming for the ultimate gunline Tau. I nicknamed it the Pulse Parade after the Ethereal+Fire blade combo that makes a hell lot of shots for fire warriors. I picked out all the good leadership HQ units and a bunch of fire warriors. I even put in Aun'Shi because he has an invulnerable save. I got lots of markerlights and seeker missiles and HYMP's.
HQ:
Aun’Va (Warlord)= 100 points
Aun’Shi= 110 points
Elites:
Riptide: Ion accelerator, Twin-linked SMS, Early warning override, Stimulant injector= 225 points
Riptide: Ion accelerator, Twin-linked fusion blaster, Early warning override, Stimulant injector= 225 points
Troops:
12 Fire Warriors: Shas’ui, Bonding knife ritual= 130 points
12 Fire Warriors: Shas’ui, Bonding knife ritual= 130 points
12 Fire Warriors: Shas’ui, Bonding knife ritual= 130 points
15 Kroot: Shaper, Sniper rounds, 1 Hound= 125 points
Fast Attack:
Pathfinder Team 1: Shas’ui: 7 Pulse carbines with markerlights, 3 Ion rifles, Blacksun filter, Bonding knife ritual= 161 points
Pathfinder Team 2: Shas’ui: 7 Pulse carbines with markerlights, 3 Rail rifles, Blacksun filter, Bonding knife ritual= 176 points
Heavy Support:
3 Broadsides: Shas’vre, 3 Twin-linked high-yield missile pods, Twin-linked SMS, 3 Early warning overrides, 2 Shield drones, Bonding knife ritual= 257 points
Sky Ray: Twin-linked SMS= 115 points
Sky Ray: Twin-linked SMS= 115 points
Total: 1999 points

Executing Exarch

With Aun'va invoking 2 elements a turn, I question the need of a third ethereal instead of taking a fireblade. If you really want a third ethereal, just take a bare bones one, aun'shi is pretty expensive for what he brings. If you want another named HQ, darkstrider would be a better choice. The only powers you want to use early game are run/shoot and FNP. Stubborn is okay, but wont come up till later, same with the extra shot.
Stimulant injectors are fairly expensive on the riptides, but I understand for nova charge purposes. However, if you keep them close to aun'va you can give them a 6+ FNP for free each turn.
Since you have ethereals for leadership, why all the 'ui's and bonding knives? Bonding knives only come into play when your below 25% and have no 'ui...so rare if ever. If they save a unit, they keep 2 fire warriors on the table? I would drop them from everything but the broadsides.
The skyrays could use disruption pods.

Trustworthy Shas'vre

I feel like you are spending alot of points here that you do not need to be spending.
I would take a single Ethereal.
Take Darkstrider, Cadre Fireblade, or Ethereal.
Ally Farsight Enclaves for a Cadre Fireblade HQ
Ends up being the same cost or cheaper by 40pts.
On most(All but Enclave) Fire Warrior Squads drop the 'ui and Bonding Knives.
On the Pathfinders drop the Ion and Rail upgrades as well as the bonding knives.
This yields a couple hundred more points to play with, 175/215/225pts depending on HQ selection. This can be spend on two additional near Max Firewarrior Squads and brings vastly more Pulse Power.
Oh, and better yet you can make one of your Riptides and ECPA HBC with a VT and Stim Injector which greatly improves your AA and can free up a little wiggle room with your Heavy Support.
And as I'm reading this I forgot something very important, the required Crisis Suits! So, I'd make the Broadsides Double MP Crisis Suits. You still have enough points to play with to take a two man Broadside Squad if you pull from the points meant for the Additional Firewarriors. Though I can understand if you want to avoid this list due to requiring the Suits. Either way most of my advice stands even if you don't ally in FE.
The net effect would be vastly greater firepower and additional scoring units at the cost of your Unique Ethereals.
Edit: Also, Dr. Serling's adice is spot on.

I like the advice you guys are giving me but in the end I don't really want a Farsight Enclaves army, I have made one already. This list is devoted to making large volumes of fire possible. Ironically I think the only thing that I'm terribly worried about is fitting all those units on the board! Automatically Appended Next Post: Dr. Serling wrote:With Aun'va invoking 2 elements a turn, I question the need of a third ethereal instead of taking a fireblade. Well I was debating getting a Fire Blade for the extra shooting at range but I liked the idea of making an unbreakable gunline, which the cadre fire blade doesn't contribute to as well as the ethereals. I think 2 ethereals can be risky but very rewarding at the same time if pulled off right and thats what I aim to do.
Stimulant injectors are better than 6+ fnp, thats usually for the fire warriors.
Well if worst comes to worst I might need them if Aun'va gets sniped or Aun'shi gets murdered so I liked the idea of back up plans for my back up plans.
Yes they should but I'm going to make a wall of fire warriors around them so that they get cover anyways.

You can run the DakkaSuit™ team:
Crisis Commander: (2x Gun Drones, Drone Controller, Vectored Thrusters, Neuroweb, Iridium, Airbursting, Burst Cannon) - 174, can tweak points down to super cheaper.
Crisis Team: 6x Gun Drones, 3x Suits w/ Bust Cannon, TL Burst Cannon
16 non-TL BC shots, 12 TL BC Shots, 16 TL Pulse Carbine Shots (BS5!)
44 S5 shots, a great deal either TL or BS5, and a large pie place "bolter" that ignore cover (what about dug in blob squads you say?! Ork Boy Mobs?!)
It's a silly unit, but if/when I play Tau, I'm totally building a "dakka-tau" list with Burst Cannon Riptides n everything (might have to do a Farsight Enclave to make those work...)
Just a thought.

I like how you trademarked the Dakkasuit lol. But if I do that I would have to give up one of the ethereals and i don't really want to do that. Maybe a different list i can try that.
