I play Tau, and I always use the JSJ tactic with my suits mainly for these reasons,
To jump in close and rapid fire, then jump away to put as much distance possible between me and enemy units to avoid a charge.
To jump from behind a building to shoot and then jump back behind to avoid getting shoot or charged.
To move the furthest possible distance from an enemy to deny them the charge at all.
For my opponent though, this seems to kill the game experience for him because he can't charge my units. He alway get frustrated when I do it and thinks I am a coward.
Do you find this a problem when you vs Tau?

I play Eldar, you JSJ, I move, shoot, run. It is not cowardice if you play to your strengths. Would your opponent claim that running a Mech army is cowardice?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

My SoB just ignore suits (except for Exorcist tanks) and kill all Firewarriors and Pathfinders. I'll seldom wipe out the suits but once the Tau can't claim objectives I need only keep a single Troop sister alive on one. Game over.

I've always found the tactic to be annoying, but I have not played against tau in a very long time, nor have I ever played against a tau player who wasn't a known cheater. So it's hard for me to say because my experience is tainted

Labeling your opponent a coward is a simple way of saying they are too smart to let you fight the battle you want. Take it as a compliment and think of all those victories won by those who would withdraw in the face of attack before regrouping to attack again.
Here's a list of some notables using that tactic.
Atilla the Hun
William the Conquorer
Saladin
Gengis Khan (and any other Mongol warlord for that matter)
Kutuzov
So enjoy driving your opponent nuts. It's all part of the game within the game.

I run a Farsight Enclaves list, so I rarely, if at all bring Fire Warriors. Just suits, and suits, some tanks.... And more suits.
And maybe some pathfinders if I am feeling the need.

Agreed! Though i'm going to go a step further and say "Labeling someone a coward for using rules in a wargame is fairly stupid in the first place".
It's a game... kinda hard to be cowardly playing a game. Unless your a lion in Oz, i suppose.

I thought the same thing when i read that, and agree. I play Farsight enclave ... can't always ignore the suits !
I play Draigowing too, so ditto there. My dreadknights can be scoring.

Crisis suits usually cost 40-60 pts each depending on their loadout. Your opponents can field 3-4 marines per suit or even more basic troops if nids/orks.
It isn't hard to corner a crisis squad/farsight enclave with sheer weight of bodies.
Besides the game would be very crummy if the crisis had no chance of escaping assaults.

Admittedly not faced a full suit army, but I should have the tools to hurt it. Hmm... I may even have made a mistake in my earlier faceoffs by taking out Devilfish/Hammerheads with my outflanking Dominions instead of frying an entire suit squad with melta goodness. I'll have to have a look at that next time I have to face the Greater Good. ;-)

Yes, it's one of the more irritating tactics I've ever faced until I figured out how it worked and more importantly the various capabilities of the units with the ability to do so.
Simple advice: Use ranged weapons which outrange the ability to flee so it doesn't matter 'where' they run to.
Simple advice II: Don't bother trying to charge ever. (unless the ability presents itself aka: your opponent did something wrong or was forced to)
Simple advice III: Make every shot count. (Rerolls, ignores cover, AP-3+, etc. These sort of units are drastically less effective/annoying if you can pick off a few of them per shooting phase)
Simple advice IV: Ignore II if your melee specialists also have jetpacks, jump packs, are beasts, or cavalry, etc. (speed wins out)

I've never had a real problem with Tau jet packs. Not in this edition, anyway. Experience and good tactical sense are fully capable of dealing with this ability, although I do admit that it was incredibly frustrating the first time I faced it.

We had a problem with tau in our last new player 500pts tournament. All the armies were noob delight , libby+tacticals , cpt+bikers , Rune priest and some GH etc . Classic am starting to play units . It wasn't true only for the two store owners sons , which both were using farsight lists . They won the tournament of course , so the shop didn't have to gives prizes to anyone . To make it even worse , because e-book aren't much of a thing here , non of the new players knew what the farsight list does .
In normal games they are just annoying for slower moving armies , but it is also the thing that makes them good. Last turn objective grabing, move ,shot , hide are awesome . Wish it wasn't limtied to two armies though .
Simple advice: Use ranged weapons which outrange the ability to flee so it doesn't matter 'where' they run to.

any advice on how to kill them with IG. I have a problem with them either moving out of LoS after shoting or siting in a tech marine buffed cover and when there is 7 of them [2x3+ cmd] scoring it is hard to shift them from objectives.

Just deep strike some troops behind them. It normally ruins their day

My Eldar try the same, whether on foot, or Warp Spiders and jetbikes.
But, they need to run somewhere out of range of close units, and out of long-range fire-lanes, too.
I find the easiest way to stop the JSJ is to keep out of their LoS, and to sneak around to deny them anywhere to jump back to,
In chess terms, use bishops and rooks to trap a knight.

Imperial guard? Bring on the artillery! You can't hide from griffons (although basilisks may be more suited to wiping small squads out potentially).
Also a vendetta swooping on should usually get a line of sight to insta-kill them.

IG aren't really my speciality, but in general I'd suggest pouring on the fire, preferably with what 'ignore cover' weapons you have available. JSJ doesn't do much against ranged attacks, and so far as I am aware Guard has mass shooting down to a fine art.

damn . I sold my vendettas to buy warmachine and griffons and basilisks don't do much against meq and mecha armies. Well hope that footslogging guard will get some LoS ignoring weapon in their new codex too.

Maybe ally in some sisters of battle or grey knights. Flamers (and psykers with divination for the twin-linking and potentially ignore cover-ing) seems like they'd be some good for you.
