I am using Crimson Fists with a focus on drop pods and was wondering how I should equip devastators. Remember Crimson/Imperial Fists get to reroll 1's with bolter weapons and their dev sqaud and centurions get Tank Hunter as well as +1 to damage roll against buildings. My list usually looks something like:

HQ:
Pedro Kantor -185pts

Troop:
2x 5 man tac squad, heavy bolter, drop pod- 2x 125pts

Elites:
2x 10 man sternguard squad, drop pod, 4x combi melta- 2x 295
1x 9 man sternguard squad, drop pod, 4x combi melta- 273 (9 man so Pedro can join).

Fast Attack:
2x Stormtalon w/ skyhammer ML- 2x 125

So!
For an 1850 pt game I have 302pts to throw around.

I was thinking:
2x 5 man dev squad, 4ML, 2x 130 pts (42pts left over, so I could get 3 more marines)
-or-
2x 5 man dev squad, 3 Lazcannons, 2x 150pts (2 points left over)
-or-
1 of each (22 points left over)
-or-
Your vote!

6 Tank hunter Laz shots looks mighty fine, but 8 Tank Hunter ML shots is nothing to galk at either, especially considering that they also get blast templates.
Or do you suggest something entirely?

Oh, and I have a post similar to this in Army Build section, but I think this question is more specific and belongs in tactics.

What do you think would be best, considering Imperial fists get Tank Hunter?

Thanks in advance!

Resin Printer (minaitures) is a 4K printer with one of the largest build volumes available for a resin printer (192mm x 120mm x 245mm) with an amazing .01mm resolution! This professional printer is one of the best resin printers on the market!

FDM Printer (terrain) also has one of the largest build volumes available for an FDM printer (400mm x 400mm x 450mm) and has an amazing ,05mm build accuracy.

I know this is completely off topic of devastators but why not use a thunder fire cannon? I hear it is crazy good now!

i don't know if I need more anti infantry, especially with the sternguard special ammo. But if I did take one, would I take it in a drop pod or not? I would guess not.

Crimson Fists big thing is their devastators melting man, machine and concrete. So it would be a shame not to utilize this.

Since the new lascannon devastators get a hefty point discount compared to... every previous C:SM, I'd go down that route. Your option C leaves 20+ points free, which is exactly what is needed for the fourth lascannon.

I'd go with:

5 man dev squad, 4 ML. 130 pts
5 man dev squad, 4 LC. 150 pts

It cannot shoot the turn in comes in and so would be a sitting duck for a turn, most opponents will be smart enough to shoot them before anything else.

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.

Tank hunter MLs are at least no embarassing. But the price differential between MLs and Lascannons is now very small.

So i am hearing 5 man dev squad w/ 4ML and 5 man dev squad with 4 Lazcannons? Sound pretty good to me.

Same goes for Missile Launchers shooting Frag Missiles, they cannot shoot the turn they come down because its a template weapon. If anything I would consider taking some Devastator Centurions and have them start on the table, with them being relentless they could advance up the board while your Sternguard come in making a decent hammer and anvil combo, just realize if you dont go first the Centurions will be targets for a turn.

Honestly I think min max Lascannons (5 men, 4 Las) is seriously wasting the trait. It's not hard to kill 5 Marines to eliminate 4 Tankhunter Lascannons. With 14 point Marines and Bolter Drill/Tank Hunters you want Full 10 man squads that can break down into combat squads of 5 men with 2 Lascannons each. Way more survivability and damage output for only 70 extra points per dev squad.

Where would you recommend I get my points from? The only place I see I have room to move around is sternguard, but I don't want to have to take away combi's, and idk if shortening their numbers would be a great idea, I would have to lose 6 sternguard, so I would be down to 2x 8man and 1x 7man. And that means I cant combat squad.

Any suggestions on where to get the points from?
