The Eye Of Terror

So some of my buddies are starting a Deathwatch campaign, and I rolled up a Sanguinary Priest character Named Brother Medens. His backstory involves him fighting on Baal against the orks.

So, when it came time, I decided I wanted a signature power sword and requisitioned it. Another member of the group got a plasma gun for his Dark Angels Librarian, and in a rather clever moment for me I suggested he name it "Pride of the Pride". We got on the topic of naming weapons, and when I had left over requisition and could not figure out what to spend it on, The GM suggested a special effect were I to name it.

He suggested something related to Orks, considering Medens' backstory. I then was hit by an awesome idea. The sword's power field glows green when Orks are nearby. The GM loved the idea, added a +2 Pen bonus against Orks, and that was that.

So now, my Dakka friends, what shall I name this legendary weapon?

Ooh, the first one has a nice ring to it, thiugh maybe something like "The Emerald Death" would work, too.

Also the sword is totally a LOTR reference, in case nobody noticed.

Try Latin, it always sound cool
http://translate.google.com/#en/la/

As it detect Orks i could suggest the name Pervigil - Watchful
Another fine name would be Smaragdus - Emerald (as it glow green)
Or you just can call it Aculeus to make it even more LotRy

I like names that sound mythological or angelic.

Hamycin
Amorolfin
Alicin
Horopito

Since you also seem to enjoy the clever wordplay jokes with your names, then these are also the names of antifungals. In any event, I hope that helps.

Viridian Flayer, viridian being a variation of green.

Could also be coy and call it Harlequin Flayer (or Harlequin whatever you want). Harlequin is a variation of green, but obviously it's the Eldar unit too. Dual purpose name right there.

Maybe give it a backstory involving a three-way battle between Eldar, Orks, and Marines, where the sword was used to slay both forces equally well. You might even be able to squeeze another bonus out of it if the backstory is cool enough.

+1 for Pervigil
Also, if you're not super-serious in your games, call it by the name some orks had for it : “The Turquoise Toothpick “.

Wait, wait. It glows when Orks are nearby?

Aside from the obvious the sword's not terribly likely to be named after an enemy, even if it's designed to hunt them - that'd be a Chaos thing. Marine weapons are typically named after Chapter-relevant things like old heroes, places or notable battles.

So, going with the Blood Angels' most famous battle against the Orks (Armageddon), I'd think something like "Tempestora" or "Hades" would fit well.

If you want to give it a name based on what it does:

dagglamog
glamogdagnir

Of course only true LotR nerds will get it.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

I found Blood Angels always had a renaissance feel to them, so use a name based off an Italian word.

Mondaro = cleanse

Tagliare = cut

Punira = smite/punish

Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

Amoralfin, the Emerald Death is awesome. You mind if I gaffle the name for use in a D&D game? It's too nice a name and title combo not to let it moonlight.
