So, with the addition of chapter tactics, suddenly it matters more about the chapter you take.

This leads me to the question, what chapter is everyone going for, and why?

When you vote, specify the Chapter Tactics you have chosen, and why. Are you going to ally a different chapter? Are you going to 'proxy' a chapter (for example, i've painted Salamanders but i want Ultramarines Chapter Tactics)?

For me, i'm going with White Scars.

I've not had a 40k army since before Christmas (been dabbling with WHFB). But when rumors of the new SM started to stack up, I decided I'd get back into 40k with Marines. A little over a year ago, I had a blog and painted White Scars. I got around 1k points of them, before i sold them off. I decided that if the new SM codex was kind to bikes, I'd go with that chapter. The false rumor about Captains only allowing 1 bike squad to be troops made be hesitate a little, but all is well and good. I'm in the planning stage now, going to wait until I move into my new place before I start buying things - so keep an eye on the P&M Blog sub-forum for my blog, it should be live in around 2/3 weeks.

Those are my reasons, and i'm interested to hear yours. I'd imagine Scars, Ultras and Salamanders would be high up there...

I've been playing Iron hands for years, so might as well stick to it.

My main-army is Bloodravens (Chapter: Ravenguard), the army formerly known as Blood Angels.
But I have lots of bikes and I am going to collect a White Scars-list.

I haven't bought GW models in years, nor do intend to with these prices, so I play with what I got.
Imperial Fists fit the army I already have best.
Although Iron Hand are a close second.

as good as I think the Iron Hands Chapter Tactics are, I bought the Salamanders book because I like Salamanders.

Salamanders are legit as well. I love the chapter tactics. I just don't think its enough to get over on Eldar/Tau.

Salamanders. I'm a big ally-whore, so I'll wind up with allied Ultramarine detachments (and probably a Crimson Fists one as well).

I've been running roughshod over Eldar/Tau for quite a while now, and my Sallies haven't had any troubles. I think it's doable.

I run Crimson Fists, so it's a pretty easy choice as to which tactics I'll end up using. I might play around with some other tactics in a game where I don't run Pedro and Sternguard though.

I've been collecting White Scars since 2004, I'll keep at it.

And I'll slap anyone who accuses me of bandwagon jumping on the latest power list, if it comes to that.

I'm using the iron hands tactics. I always used a priest with my BA to get a 5+ FNP, so an army wide FNP (even at 6+) will make a difference. A couple lucky sixes here and there can really change a game around. Not to mention IWND on vehichles and characters. Sounds like a winner to me.

Ill use whichever one fits my list the best, one of the advantages of having a homebrew chapter.

With armies for IF and UM, I'll obviously stick to those tactics, but when I chuck in my DA/BA and run a 'crusade force', I might vary it around a bit. I use a lot of tacs, so Ultras and Fists are still looking good for that, but raven guard with a lot of rhinos looks fun/brutally fast. Enemy board edge potentially in rapid-range at the end of T1... sounds good!

I play Raven Guard because I love the idea of stealthy marines. That and I am big beakie fan. Its really too bad they don't keep stealth past the first turn.

I am actually blown away by how many more other chapters are being chosen other than the ultras. And apparently lots still play templars...which is encouraging for us to get a supplement later.

I will play BTs because I love them have 2k of them painted and refuse to start another main army I may do a white scars ally but that's about it.

Imperial Fists because I love bolter drill combined with drop pods and tank hunting centurion devs and flak devs sound awesome especially up on a landing pad.

Also have a preheresy Imp Fists army so I plan on extending that with beakie marines. Plan on picking up some more Cataphractii terminators and kitting them with th/ss

I have Invaders, so I'm defaulting to Fists. Oddly enough, before this book came out and let us know the origins, I always figured Invaders for sons of Dorn and made some objective markers to that effect.

I kind of wanted access to Tigurius though.

Just for the joy of actually having a melee troops option I'd choose Templars, at least I would, if I hadn't decided that having masses of bikes, terminators, and all the Dark Angel characters in metal meant that I was really meant to play Dark Angels.

Red Scorpions here, so I guess I'll be using the UM tactics until Forgeworld updates them. Although, Iron Hands tactics do seem rather fluffy with the army wide FNP, since Red Scorpions are fond of having Apothecaries in all the tactical squads.

I decided to play Raven Guard. I've always been interested in the aesthetic and rules despite the fact they're not near as good as some of the other chapter tactics. I've always been really into the Shrike model and now I have a great excuse to use him and his chapter. Should do nicely as an allied detachment with my Tau.
