It seems all everyone is talking about is the gravity gun at the moment (and rightly so). Seeing as they're only in 2 kits, i imagine we'll see lots of purchased squads just for that one bit.
Time to go into business lol.

I just bought 16 third party "grav guns". I've bought enough plasma and melta from GW.

It's a brand new thing able to be used on bread and butter units. Of course everyone wants them.

The Ion Rifle from Anvil, or something else?

Yeah, I got the Anvil ion rifle. It's as good as anything else.

I really don't think this is going enable the marines to get over on Eldar/Tau, but I'm hoping the Orks and Nids might shake things up.

For me I am still stuck on plasma. Granted the grav gun does not wound on toughness which is great but honestly str 7 wounds most everything on 2's at worst 3's. I still think the plasma gun is the better all around but the grav gun definatly has its place. As a da player I wont be using much grav weapons unless I bring an allied space marine unit which I do from time to time. The sad part is anyone who spams grav guns will wipe the floor with most marine armies.

Well the grav gun has a higher rate of fire from a bike and doesn't get hot.

My lists will still use plasma and flamers, and I suspect when BA is released, I'l work melta back in. I'm not spamming grav. I'm putting it on an optimal platform as a hedge against certain units.

Spaming grav guns with bikes makes the most sense as you will get to choose which weapon to fire the grav gun or the tl bolter.

The bikes from the Dark Vengeance boxed set are already beginning to sell for more on eBay.

If grav guns are too hard to get I'll just use volkite weapons. But those are equally expensive I'd imagine.

I dont think so. I think they will become just as popular as melta and plasma.

This is what I did, although I've brought grav pistols and combi gravs (five of each) from a bit service for around £1.50 each. The Volkite guns from FW aren't actually that expensive, £11 for 10, same price as their other special weapons, which per gun makes them cheaper than GW and most bit services. Heavy weapons are £12 for a mixed four pack that comes with arms from FW, so as long as you needed the arms (I did) they work out cheaper than bit service again.

I don't see any grav guns on e-bay.

I picked up a stern-guard box. I've been meaning to make some bad ass honor guard for my DA and I wanted a couple grav guns for some bikers (for when I shock every one and play a small ravenwing army using white scar rules). I was sad to see only one grav gun on the sprue but the combi grav (there are two) is only 2mm shorter and looks basically the same. I will be clipping the bolter barel and as these guns needed to be one handed any way will inform the other player(s) as to what they are. Have to any way as I am running a army painted for different tactics.

going by the pricings on bitzbox, grav-guns, plasma guns, and meltas all go for about $3USD.

Honestly, the special weapon gravgun isn't that appealing to me. It'll be great for White Scars or other bike-heavy armies, but an 18" range salvo weapon on a non-Relentless platform is a bit weaksauce IMO. The real prizes with the addition of grav weaponry are the pistol and heavy weapons, the former because it allows monster-hunter characters with Unwieldy weapons to Concuss their target before charging in, and the latter because it comes on a Relentless platform with rerolls to wound and on the vehicle attack. Literally the only weakness of grav-hurricane Dev-Centurions is their 24" range and lack of an invulnerable save; they can handle any unit type in the game with that setup - vehicles get glanced to death, skimmers get immobilised, MCs and elite infantry get mowed down, and most other infantry dies to the hurricanes and grav wound rerolls.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

If anybody purchases a whole squad for a Gravgun, they are being extremely foolish and financially unwise.

They are too easy to convert, or use a nice 3rd party option.

I play ravenwing and feel that the sudden appearance of grav weapons is a bonus to me, 18" and 24" are ravenwings sweet spot and they do it better than codex marines, a unit of ravenwing knights will easily kill centurions and the basic attack squad will out shoot tactical squads.

Im still not completely sold on the Grav Gun, as though I am running a bike-themed list from the new SM book, I was planning on using the traditional 2x Melta's/flamers, Sgt. w/combi-melta, PF and Attack Bike with Multi-Melta/hvy. bolter Combos for my squads. Now what makes the Grav gun so good with bike squads? Just got the new book so Im still learning some things but would Grav Guns be worth it more then melta's and flamers?

And as far as I understand, Ravenwing can't get the Grav Gun right now, unless they FAQ it recently.

En masse, the Grav gun destroys pretty much anything your opponent spends lots of money on. Riptide? Gone. Land raider? In shambles. TEQ death star? Poof.

The added salvo range and rate of fire are also selling points, as I believe you get 3 shots from each at 24" if stationary or relentless, so when combined with the mobility of bikes, creates a rather large and versatile kill zone.

In a ravenwing vs. white scar matchup, yes.

However, white scar's are the better TAC list IMO. Especially in the current meta with all the Riptides, Wraithknights, Tervigons, and other MC's running around.

It might depend on your meta.
My meta doesn't spam enough vehicles, so I don't need a dozen melta-guns.
The Grav is reliable enough to kill their shooty vehicles and Immobilize their assault-tanks/dreadnoughts, while giving me enough range to shoot their 2+ models and make sure I get the charge.
