Subject: Best way to kit out Grey Knight Terminators and Paladins?

As the title says: what would be the best way to kit out a squad of ten terminators? Ten Paladins?
I was wanting to kit out my Paladins personally with hammers to have a 10 man squad of "Hammerdins" as it were.
Thoughts? Which melee weapons work best for attacking? Better chances of success to hit? Or what seems to work out rather well that I might be overlooking currently?

Halberds all the way and psycannons where you can. Get in two hammers per 5 termi's too, and if it's a 10 man squad of either throw in the banner and apothocary.

I usually mix swords and halberds for a mix of durability and striking first.
Swords also become silly with the Forwarning divination power.
I also always take at least 1 Hammer for when I need str10.
And max psycannons and psybolts, always!

Always take max Psycannons! Psybolt ammo and Banner are only for units over 5 models. I usually don't take them if it isn't a full unit. Apothecary is good, but expensive. A lot of people run max halberds, as Grey Templar said mixing in swords adds some durability. 1 Hammer is recommended per 5. Always put a Halberd on the Sgt for regular Terminators. A Warding Stave is fun if you have the points. Master Crafting Psycannons is good too if you have the points.

Oh I definitely plan on taking Psycannons. Is the Psybolt ammo really worth it though? Just wondering of course.
And if I were to go with a theme, per se, what melee weapon works well as an overall grouping?
It should probably be explained that I'd be running a single Terminator and a single Paladin squad in my current army layout. 10 men apiece and trying to get them based and built.

Yes, it really is.
Massed Str5 is powerful, especially when its your basic weapon.
And it ends up being 2 pts per model with a full squad.

Well, if you're going to run ten paladins, then I'd recommend the psybolt ammo, if its only 5 or so (with two psycannons) then I would say no... But definitely max out the psycannons, 2 per 5, with four shots at strength 7 with rending is great, and GK are hurting on high strength shooting for the most part. Weapons wise, I like to run (per five) two hammers, two halberds and maybe one sword. It gives me high initiative for the marines, high strength for vehicles/TEQ, and the sword is my first place to roll wounds in CC, although really three halberds and two hammers would be almost as durable and definitely better in CC against MEQ. The apothecary is great in larger units, as the 1/3 save against most wounds for expensive Paladins can be useful if running them as a death star.

The best way to equip GKTs is by taking thawn. And a decent mix of weapons, but mostly thawn. A permanent scoring unit, and a permanent threat. With all the blessings of terminator armor.

Halberds and hammers all the way, at a 2 hammers per 5 man ratio. The only TEQ unit I take swords on are Ghost Knights if my Libby is taking Quicksilver. As to Staves, Banners, Psybolts and Apothicaries, I like a Staff on my Justicar for tanking in CC on the GKT unit I plan to get it stuck in soonest. On my GKT unit I use for holding ground, the Staff is wasted points. The same can be said for the Banner. For Pallies, the Apoth seems to be a net-fav, but I find the points usually need to be spent somewhere else in the list; the same can be said for Thawn.
On Psycannons and Psybolts, always take max Psycannons, yet Psybolts need to go to full 10man squads and are a better purchase for Interceptors IMO. Yes, yes, Str5 shooting is good. But could those points have been spent elsewhere on another model for your small model count army? Math says Str5 is worth one extra wound, but not 5 extra wounds (a bolter hench squad at the same cost).
While taking all the bling is the current flavor, as an old timer Daemonhunters player, I tend to take less bling than most for my small model count army and only take the bling that makes sense for my army's synergy.

Judgemental Grey Knight Justicar
|
Per 5 man Paladin squad: 2 psycannons, 2 hammers, 2 halberds, 1 sword.
per 10 man Termies: 2 psycannons, 2-3 swords, 4 hammers, 3-4 halberds, psybolt ammo
Makes them survivable and very killy without jacking up the points with an Apothecary.

The Way I like to kit out ten Paladins looks like...
5 Paladins 2x MCPsycannion/Hammer, 2xHalberd, 1xSword
Solodin

875 Points with Driago makes one Fairly tough unit and a total of 6 scoring units. Then Add Two PT HI GS Dreadknights and you've spend 1395.
Leaves quite a few points left over to cover other things and nets you a minimum of 7 scoring units, usually 8+.
