Hi folks. I think I've settled on getting the Bakunin Jurisdictional Command starter box first, when I start buying up some Infinity models. The corregidor stuff is pretty cool, may get it some time, but the Bakunin stuff just seems awesome. The Morlocks and Uberfallcommando especially. To the point, while I've seen it said multiple times that you can get away with using most anything in Infinity, would I be shooting myself in the foot if I picked up the BJC starter and immediately followed it up with the Morlocks? The two boxen ad... wait... spell check thinks boxen is an actual word? What a world we live in... The two boxen come out to right around 150 points and under 3 SWC, while allowing for multiple configurations (moira or moderator as Lt, moira can proxy HMG to eat up SWC, zero can be minelayer or switch specs to free or eat a point here or there, the morlocks are fairly flexible... etc).

But, its only six regular orders and 4 crazy impetuous morlocks running around getting into trouble. With either a minimum Moderator link team (DTW bait) or a moira (also DTW bait, but also MSV2+ bait) as the only Lt choices ( well, ok... the Zero could do it if I wanted to get fancy ), and only a couple of platforms for heavier weapons... What do you guys think? I don't get to play games a lot, so I'm leaning towards collecting in this order aesthetically, but I kind of wanted to check and see if it would be at least basically playable if I did get the chance to throw some dice.

A quick list:
JURISDICTIONAL COMMAND OF BAKUNIN
──────────────────────────────────────────────────

GROUP 1 6 4 4

MODERATOR Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 9)
MODERATOR Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (9)
MODERATOR Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (9)
REVEREND MOIRA HMG / Pistol, Shock CCW. (1.5 | 39)
SIN-EATER Mk12 / Pistol, CCW. (29)
ZERO (Minelayer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 19)
MORLOCK Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Assault Pistol, AP CCW. (10)
MORLOCK Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Assault Pistol, AP CCW. (10)
MORLOCK Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, Shock CCW. (7)
MORLOCK Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, Shock CCW. (7)

2.5 SWC | 148 Points

Open with Army 4
In practice, I would find somewhere for those last 2 points, but this gets the basic idea across

TLDR: BJC starter+morlocks, bad idea? Playable? Inquiring mind wants to know!

Thanks for your consideration folks, happy hobbying

The list is playable, though it might struggle against certain compositions (Su-Jian in 150 is very mean tho one trick pony, Ariadna with camo and warbands on its own). As long you understand that the list can't drive all of the elements to their full potential you should be fine. The effectiveness of the list will also be changed, if you intend to play scenarios, ITS or Paradiso.

Have fun tracking MetaChemistry.

I wouldn't use Irregular and Impetuous models for a starter army because tracking all the skills and interactions for a beginner might be too difficult. That said, if you think you can manage then go out and try it. "Useless" models are really had to find in Infinity, so buy those Morlocks if you like them.

I would definitely go with fantastic! I'm sure it would be fun to play, as Alkasyn says it adds a little to the complication although it is one of the easier rules to learn.

Also helps that they are great models, and the older sculpt (if you can still find them) actually still fit quite nicely with the newer ones, giving you a varied collection.

Thanks guys! Food for thought.

I don't think I'll have any trouble understanding Impetuous and irregular, although I do understand the wild element they introduce will modify the initial learning curve for using my team effectively.

Tracking meta chemistry shouldn't be a problem, its just one roll for an ability at the start of the game right? Sure there are 4 guys doing it, but I played DE in 3rd... all of the wyches hellions and so on had their own drug rolls. Not to mention running D&D and such, that part of them really sounds fun... lots of variety per game.

I mean, its not like I'm trying to run an all Morlock list... as neat as that would be... Would be neat, but would get boring too since all you would bring are morlocks if you wanted a morlock to be Lt (think thats how that works). I mean you could take uberfallcommandos, they're irregular, but I think they need more orders to rampage up the board. Nah, I think I'll just be sticking to 1-4 morlocks and an uberfallcommando in various list incarnations in the future.
