Subject: Disney Encouraging Kids to use Ipad in theatres.
Oh ouch. This could get big because basically a lot of little kids have an iPad because their parents find it an excellent way to distract them. Combine Disney's ultra-powerful IPs and one of the most successful hardware companies in history and it could be a regular thing in kiddy films.
I see it all the time at my store, kids in the buggies with their iPads, totally silent and occupied while the parents shop. My little cousins all have one in the household, at family functions it turns into an Apple convention with all the phones and pads.
I hate Macs, I can't stand using them - but Apple completely owns handhelds. I hate to admit it RAWR.

I imagine "second screen" would be separate screenings, like 3d. I don't really see this being a problem, honestly. I certainly don't think it's going to negatively impact my moviegoing experiences.

I have found that even a single cell phone sticks out like a sore thumb in a movie theater, so i would imagine a bunch of iPads going at the same time would really light the room up, changing the viewing area. Of course, having that many kids in a theater is usually going to create enough distractions so I doubt adding one more would be that big a deal.
It is a nice 'feth you' to all the middle class and poor kids who don't have an iPad though.

Hmm not sure how I feel about using the stuff during the movie, but cineplex has the timeplay app before the movie plays. I won a pizza by playing their little trivia game pre-show.

I know there are theatres where you can experience something like an amusement ride - 3d, surround sound, seats move, piped in smells and wind - don't know if I'd want to watch a movie like that though.
As for using ipads, if you're going to watch most of the movie through that then why have a big screen at all? You could do the whole thing online at home and compete against an even larger number of people like mmorpgs.
