HQ
Tigurius

Troops

10 man Tactical Squad
10 man Scouts - Cloaks, Snipers

Elites

8 man Sternguard (2 combi-flamer, 2 combi-meltas). Drop Pod
8 man Vanguard (no jump-packs)

Fast Attack

Storm Talon - Skyhammer Missle Launcher or TL - LC?

Heavy Support

Storm Raven - Multi Melta

1800

Elites

Fill the Vanguard to 10 men, Sternguard to 10.

Heavy Support

3 Centurions - lascannons, missile launchers.
3 Centurions - grav-cannons, missile launchers

Ideal 1200:

T1 - Drop Pod the Sternguard with Tigurius (Divination) - Use the special issue ammo, along with ignore cover, invulv save, re-roll buffs.
T2 - Stormtalon and Stormravens come on (Tig's re-rolls, storm-talon escort).
T3 - Raven moves 6", deploys Vanguard assaults their shooty element.

Scouts sit on objectives, Marines footslog to forward positions as and when.

Ideal 1800:

Same as 1200 but T1 differs.

T1 - Drop Pod Sternguard. Sit Tig with the Centurions and slog into range (combine into one squad?), and squash any tanks, heavy inf etc. Using Tig to re-roll hits, ignore cover and invul.

What do you guys think?

Dan

Yeah, I get your point. However the idea was to not pod them right into a gunline, but to be a little more tactical with it.

Tig with divination (ignore cover, re-roll successful enemy saves, 4++ save) should punch quite a big hole into monstrous creatures/ap3 infantry.

Yeah if you play more defensively should be fine

If you can cast invulnerable that would be sweet

Putting assault troops in the raven is a mistake. The game is going to be almost over by the time they can get into CC. Running it empty as a gunboat is fine. I can see putting a 5 man scout squad in there for a late game objective grab. But in general, I'm not a fan of reserving assault troops.

Keep in mind that most games are objective based. Think of how you are going to take and hold them. You need troops. For 1,200 I think you will do OK, but at higher points it's just too easy to focus fire and kill all your scoring bodies.

Also if you pod Tigurius with the Sterns on turn 1 you won't be able to use Prescience (blessings must be cast before any movements).

If you're using Tigurius as a blessing/malediction caster in a pod, I would make sure he's in a tough unit. Sternguard is not necessarily bad but be careful what you pod next to. Command squad with the apoc on some SS is a good option too.

Didn't think about that. By not podding them and slogging into range, would I be defeating the purpose of them? Some ammo has 30" range, so it could work especially by improving the effectiveness of each shot.

Either that, or I'll just have to be careful where I put them.

In your case since you have no other pods to support them I would say a rhino might get them in range a bit quicker than foot-slogging while providing some protection from things like Helldrakes. I would definitely try to get more transports so that your enemy has multiple targets to think about instead of just popping the 1 rhino.

Good luck.

Maybe stick the other tac squad in another rhino.... :/

Interesting Idea. Would two be enough in 1200?

Yea but you can use his warlord trait the turn you pod in to give them re-rolls that turn(without a psychic test to boot)

People who stopped buying GW but wont stop bitching about it are the vegans of warhammer
