Hey guys, I am looking for advice/tactics/criticism/improvements on my mech Tau list:

HQ - Ethereal

Troops - 9x Fire Warriors w/Devilfish
Troops - 9x Fire Warriors w/Devilfish
Troops - 9x Fire Warriors w/Devilfish
Troops - 9x Fire Warriors w/Devilfish

Elites - XV104 Riptide w/Ion Accelerator + EWO + Skyfire
Elites - XV104 Riptide w/Ion Accelerator + EWO + Skyfire

Fast Attack - Piranha w/Fusion
Fast Attack - Piranha w/Fusion
Fast Attack - Piranha w/Fusion

Heavy Support - Skyray Gunship + TL SMS
Heavy Support - Skyray Gunship + TL SMS


General Idea is that First Turn I move the 'Fish in such a way that keeps the either out of LoS or Range of most anti tank Weapons and Flat Out, then I Flat-out the Piranhas towards the enemy, whilst moving up the Riptides on the least defended flank, The Skyray's are there to provide a small amount of markerlight support and to deal with any pesky fliers. Turns 2-5 I use old fashioned 'Fish o' Fury tactics to dominate Infantry before re-meching for a scramble towards the Objectives. The Piranhas who will have been dealing with Mech and MC in the early game will now be amazing at contesting objectives, giving me the win (hopefully) What do you think?

Honestly I'd take the skyfire off the Riptides. Very expensive, and with two Skyrays I think you'll have a good amount of AA against anyone who doesn't spam it.

That gives you 50 points to work with. I forget how much upgrades cost, but I'd throw a SMS on your devilfish. That changes them from "oh that tickles" to "son of a b*** come out of cover so I can shoot back!"

I'm a big fan of mechanised Tau, even though the new codex heavily rewards gunlines. Best of luck with the list!
