So I am working on a chaos riptide conversion so to speak, but have hit a few snags as to what bits to use for what. Essentially I purchased the riptides complete torso, and complete leg set, and am trying to make it "obvious" that it is chaos affiliated without making it simply demonically possessed.

I already created an ion accelerator using the heavy burst cannon, and the 3 ectoplasma heads from the forgefiend/maulerfiend kit, and I am planning on using one of the defiler heads/neck to make up for that puny thing they call a head in the original kit. My question is How should I do the boosters, and what should I make his chaotic nova shield out of? as I am kind of stuck, and low on spare bits of that nature.

so as you can see its just the basic frame so far..nothing is glued that, and legs haven't been posed quite yet.

Well you could try and add wings to him but that would go into the possessed category. Maybe you could add an array of raptor backpacks. And for the shield generator why not use some massive glowing chaos runestone or similar.
Maybe the top bit of the warshrine: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1710146a
Or the thing on top of the tzeentch variant of this thing( don't know the non german name...): http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440111a&prodId=prod1870062a

Sounds like a sweet idea. And obviously to stay away from a possessed look your gona want to stick to mechanical styled stuff. So you could use mechanical wings or perhaps build the feet into more like rocket boots?

for the shield? me personally id have a nice big shield. like the scale size the WHFB chaos lords have, so it would be almost as tall as the riptide. Id consider fashioning it out of plasticard and adding details to that. Or you could have it using the front torso of a dreadnaught? perhaps the blood angels one? as if its torn the front off mid combat to block incoming fire. Id have it big with a writhing face trying to tear out of it like lucius the eternals armour, but thats just me

these are some great ideas. glad I posted here.

I wanted wings, so I grabbed some of the necron ghost ark pieces i had and clipped the circular bit off to fashion some http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat700019a&prodId=prod1380040a&rootCatGameStyle=

,but now you guys have given me 2 great ideas that I have to use.

The dreadnought chest shield is too fluffy to pass up, and I like all the bit options in the warshrine kit, so its going to be tough.

Ill update soon with the bits that have arrived so far, as I a still waiting for some to come in the mail.

as for plasticard, this is my first real conversion, aside from many small ones on marines, so im not too familiar with it.

thanks for all the insight this is going to be fun. (pics up soon!!!)

after my small vacation last weekend I got my bits, and proceeded to work on this a little more, but I'm still stuck on moving further away from a regular riptide while avoiding full on daemon status. any ideas dakka?

Okay the first thing i would change is move the guns on the side of his arm somewhere else. The arm looks strange that way. You could mount them on his shoulders for example.
I'd also go for larger shoulder armor and maybe armor up his arms too. (At least his upper arm)
You could add a tabard made out of stitched together skin. Also you could add skulls and jewelers chains onto him.

Yep, I think the triple gun arm looks ridiculously too big in comparison with the rest of the model. I'm not too sure what it'll seem like because the angle you've provided is a little difficult to judge from.

But man, that looks pretty sweet. Maybe chuck on some mutated daemony bits with green stuff.

Yeah it did come out a little bigger then expected, but I thought once I figured out the jumpack it would hopefully offset it,
but it might just need to change.

How do you guys feels about heldrake wings for the back?
