Just finished my second tyrant guard. I'm really happy with how the paint job came out, much better than the first one. However the first tyrant guard i painted had no fitment issues. This one however, the rear legs which have two sockets on each side of the figure aren't even close. On one side the ball joints are way to far forward, which shouldnt be to bad, i can see myself cutting down the ball joints to make them fit in the socket better. The other side though, the sockets are to far back, by a large degree.


Maybe i need to start building my model first and then painting, but i like the detail i can achieve when i paint and then glue

Call them, they will replace the bad parts. Small consolation when it's already painted though.

I worked with it for about an hour cutting and green stuffing and finally got a fitment that will at least allow it to glue to together in a stable fashion. I guess time will tell how well put together it is, i did lots of cross hatching for the glue to try to help.

I made the post to kind of let out some frustration, its my fault for not doing a good job test fitting everything before painting. I'll put up pictures next week when i get a chance to do the base. I'm not a great painter but i think i've finally made a break through with this model.

Make photo, that shows model has defect. Contact GW and show them photo. They already know finecast problem and usually send another model.
If not work, try to fix model by putting model in boiling water.

From what I have seen on here you should always call to tell them, as said above you may get an additional model sent through the post. Still worth calling them just to find out.

Indeed finecast does suck a bit. This problem wouldve been created by the material shrinking as it sets. Thicker sections will shrink by more % than thinner ones, so each piece changes size by a different amount. Big issue in the production process tbh. They should never have chosen it as a material for this reason alone :/

I only got 1 finecast model, Belial, which isnt *that* badly made.. but it was enough to make me not get any more. I didnt even bother to paint him... its just dissapointing to look at.

It really should be an embarrassment for them given the name, cost, etc.

I never to much trouble with my finecasts, once I had a guy whos hands didn't fit right so I had to use green stuff but it worked out.

Only the Thunderfire cannon really annoys me, so mean small tiny problems that I can't help but notice :(

I dont know if its the new bussines plan for them, or just coincidence... maybe they announced something (but with GW i doubt it)

but..... With the new waves of models lately, I'm not seeing any new finecast? Is it going away now? Or did I just miss them? lol

This most recent space marine release did not have any, but every other release (including Apocalypse) has Finecast models.

Probably just wishful thinking then hehe.

This is the reason (aside from a new dex coming out soon) that I haven't gotten any Hive/Tyrant Guard recently. It would just be more worth it for me to start a new army than get crappy models for an underpowered army (at least most of the finecast for nids are good units).
