Regular Matchups - mostly Ork, Tau, Eldar, sometimes Dark Eldar / Nids

Double flamer sounds pretty good with those match ups.

perhaps in combination with a homing bacon drop pod.

I've occasionally dropped a MM/HF speeder into my Salamander pod lists. I've had it recommended to me to go MM/MM or HF/HF these days, but you know internet advice: salt to taste.

Personally, since the new 'dex I'd be tempted to go MMx2, but that's just me. (Locator pods are also a great idea.)

Not a huge fan of the HF/MM mix personally, since they're for entirely different targets. Yeah, you have versatility, but yet you're also wasting half your firepower in many cases. It's partially why I've taken to using Typhoon+MM lately, though the MM's shorter range is a bit of a bummer. But with the HB you end up with the same problem as with HF/MM - "incompatible" preferred weapon targets.

Anyway, for the OP's most common enemies HF+HF really would seem like a pretty solid choice.

I'd go HF/MM for versatility. It's not always about maximizing casualties, being able to deal with any threat as needed is a valuable trait for fast attack units in particular. HFx2 will be awesome against xenos troops but when you end up facing Wave Serpent spam that MM will sure come in handy.

HB/Typhoon is not that incompatible. You can lob frags and heavy bolter rounds at infantry. A squad of speeders gets 50% more frags than a devastator squad and is mobile. They are pretty dangerous, if a bit fragile. Okay, a lot fragile.

Agreed on that. He'll be putting a lot of hurt on fragile infantry, and in a pinch can also try hurting light vehicles. Dark Eldar Raiders in particular tend to disintegrate in a most satisfying manner as soon as you look sternly in their direction.

Ofc, it will depend on how vehicle-heavy the enemies are. But for some opponents infantry hiding in a transport in fear of flamers is infantry that's not killing your stuff.

Double HF all the way - it's the single most impressive model (for its points) in my list. Check out my battle reports if you want examples.

One tip - don't be afraid to deep strike it. It's cheap enough that its not a huge loss if it mishaps, and while deep strike is risky it also gets you close without being shot. Once your opponents see what it does it will become a primary target for enemy firepower.

One HF/HF one MM/MM.

I have 3 HF/MM speeders, and I use them as a generic "problem solver" unit. they can serve anti-horde, or anti-tank depending on the army I'm facing.

I run Heavy Bolter/Assault Cannon speeders. Good crowd control with 7 possible hits and a decent anti-armor option. Haven't experimented with multimelta or flamer yet.

Cool, I'm going to do both the flamers using flamestorm cannons from the LRC kit ... should be interesting, the bottom one will be easy the top will take a little bit more effort.

I've actually had a great time with double HB Speeders. I can imagine a HF/HB Speeder to be quite effective since you'll have some range and templates.

That being said, I really want to try MM/MM speeders to truly eliminate most threats.

I like HF/HF speeders for killing infantry, but MM/MM is a great combo too.

I also like using HF/MM, funnily enough.

Given your meta, HFx2 makes good sense.

HF/HF just because I love roasting troops to tiny pieces!

I prefer to double up one weapon as I prefer to keep it great at one thing rather then good at several. It is a landspeeder, its going to die, I do what i can to make sure it does its job the first time.

Sorry but in the current meta this is entirely wrong; versatility is important but 6th edition is all about maximising casualties. Versatility is hugely important, but you make your army versatile, not a single unit.

Based on your regular opponents OP, I'd have to sit myself in the double flamer camp. Just be sure you have a reliable way to deliver the Speeder to those hordes.

Neither... A mm speeder storm in a vulkan army.perhaps a combo flamer/melta.

On topic: I would suggest heavy bolter typhoon but uhh.. you probably aren't playing DA or you'd have said. If its a lot of hordes then the double flamer sounds pretty spicy, although its probably going to be a suicide to use it (of course existing is practically suicide for speeders ).

*edit* Having read through the topic a little more closely... The locator beacon pods do seem pretty awesome for getting the flamers into a good place. I also kind of like the idea of MM/typhoon speeders, sit back and spam missiles but if something gets too close or needs to die pounce on it and close range melta with a double side of kraks.

Double heavy flamer speeders have been strongly nerfed by the recent update preventing casualties from being taken from out of range. I would definitely go with the MM/HF combo instead.

Cerberus Launcher? A match made in haven for either the HF or MM.
