So whose seen the new Fox TV series? I gotta say, I went in expecting something totally different but I'm pleased. A very fun pilot. I think the show will fill a similar niche of entertainment as Supernatural, though the main characters seem to lean more towards the Mulder and Scully dynamic than Sam and Dean. The mystery isn't what I thought would be coming but its a cool idea and a great reimagining for the story.

Was alright for a first episode. Will have to wait and see if I think it's as good as Supernatural. Plot was not what I was expecting. Just off the initial premise from the one or two commercials I'd seen I was expecting them to beat Headless in the first episode and then go on to fight random ghost/monster of the week kind of thing. Stating in the first episode that its a seven year adventure was an interesting thing as well. Otherwise I do plan to keep watching it for now.

I'm not really seeing so much Mulder and Scully there, but that might just be me.

Nevertheless, I was really stoked. I just caught that pilot by sheer happenstance, having seen not one single preview for it. I was, I admit, hugely disappointed that the best actor in the pilot bit it in the first couple minutes. But something tells me that a show airing on Fox probably isn't willing to spend Clancy Brown money on an episodic basis. That notwithstanding, it was a really cool pilot. I think that Crane is a really good debonair character, and that the female lead is a nice change from some of the stereotypes for law enforcement characters. Good stuff all around.

I enjoyed it. My GF who turned me on to Supernatural doesn't even want to give it a chance. I kind of hope it doesn't turn into a monster of the week show, that's been done and done.

I think from now on though any time there's a "known" kind of actor on the show, I'll expect them to die.

The only thing I didn't like was the part that was like, "Hi, I just shot you with all my bullets. Now I'm gonna stand here and let you chop off my head cuz there can be only one and running away when I have plenty of time to escape is what babies do."

''As good as Supernatural''

What? Are you living in an alternate dimension where Supernatural didn't start sucking major balls about four seasons ago?

It's barely watchable now!

It set up a decent premise, but I don't see the inherent story of the Headless Horseman as something that can last more than 2 or 3 seasons tops.

That said, I love the bulk and feel of the Horseman. Very ominous and intimidating.

It's not really copy paste agree. But they definitely have the 'I believe' and 'I think you're a little crazy' vibe there.

Agreed with Cane. He's charming though some of his lines imo seem almost to witty for a guy who jumped forward 250 years. However;

"That building used to be a livery stable."
"Well now its a Starbucks."
*looks over* "That building is also a Starbucks."
"Yup."
*confused stare* "How many are there?"
"Every block."
"... Is there a law?"

yeah. Much like X-Files before it, Supernatural became so enraptured in its myth arc that all the fun just seemed to be completely sucked out of the series. It was much better as a 'monster of the week' series and the developers could have at least maintaned a balance. Last season I watched there were like, three episodes not about saving the world from super evil.

"Why'd you throw it away? You only fired one shot."
"There's more?"

As far as Supernatural and X-Files go, much like many long running series, after the mid point it gets less about the weekly monsters and more about serious character development, and making longer stories with the interplay between these various characters. I've been loving the last few seasons of Supernatural myself.

See, I loved X-files until the very end. In my opinion, it is still one of the best series I have ever seen, and certainly the one that captured my imagination the most. The down-to-earth look of the actors, the low-key acting, the absolutely incredible writing and the high-quality filming... I have all 220+ episodes, and I must have watched them most two or three times.

In comparison, Supernatural stole most of it's actors and acting techniques from soap operas, and as much as I like to see well boobed-out hotties every now and then, I feel it's a shame Supernatural feels the need to throw eye-candies at me every week in order to keep my attention. The main storylines keep repeating themselves without much variations, and if I have to listen to one more speech about how fraternal love is stronger then all the adversity of Hell, I'm gonna go and throw acid in Ackles and Padelecki's faces.

X-files might have had one too many seasons, depending on the opinion. Supernatural has been running on empty since 2009-10.

This. I watched through to season six, and quit after that. I do not consider a never ending wangst fest to be character development. Given the way Sam and Dean are played in the plot I'm shocked all the slasher fan fiction hasn't become canon yet

I really thought that season 6-7 were more about Crowley, Castiel, and Bobby than they were about Sam and Dean. (Who have kind of elbowed out their own places in the world, and aren't really undergoing any huge major changes anymore.) Haven't seen season 8 yet.

One of the brothers got stuck in horrible-plane-of-existence-from-which-there-is-no-escape, manage to escape, and now must deal with the terrible scars the experience has left him, as well as with the fact that the other brother had given up on him and moved on (hence so many occasions for brotherly bitch-fest followed by moving reconciliation). All the while, kicking various gribblies in the teeth.

If this sound in any way familiar, that's because it's exactly the synopsis for the 6th season. That's how bad the writers for Supernatural are ; they don't even realize that they are repeating what they wrote two seasons ago.

I hated the Sleepy Hollow first episode. It seemed to be all over the place with some pretty bland acting. Too much info dumping and logical leaps. I think I would have enjoyed it more in a War of Independence setting with witchcraft, Catholic magic and George Washington, thwarter of the apocalypse.

It's not like early Christian teachings actually denounced magic, just magic used to harm others, necromancy, and divination.

Yeah seems the highlands priest was a witch. Missed a trick there with all the apocalyptic overtones methinks. I am waiting for the inevitable angel appearance however.
