Hey dakka,

I played a game verse tau yesterday, and we were a bit pressed for time so i didn't want to check every rule. He had 3 broadsides which had high yield missile pods as well as normal missile pods.

Each broadside was shooting 4 TL s7 shots and 4 TL s5 shots. So the unit of 3 was putting out 24 TL shots, which was just mowing down my infantry. Is that fine? Is he allowed to have both those twinlinked weapon systems and fire both?

Thanks dakka.

Dakka is not a replacement for the Rulebook and Codexes. The weapon profiles for those weapons are readily available in the Tau codex as are the rules for how many a weapon systems a Broadside can be equipped with and can fire.

If you have the rules and need us to help you understand them we can. But we can't give you rules you do not own.

Yes, that is a legal loadout. I don't recall if they can have multitrackers or not, and don't have the codex handy, but if they can, then what you described is totally legal.

IIRC all suits have multitrackers default. Which is stupid, but that's another thread.

A "yes your buddy can do that" would have sufficed and been more polite.

But this thread could get Dakka into trouble. There is a reason those rules exist.

Wait till your buddy adds in missile drones and a C&C commander to the unit. Good times...

I did this once against a Tyranid player. He wasn't very happy with the results on his units ^^
Such build hardly need markerlights, albeit they would make it nigh-unstoppable (until something reaches them, of course). A shower of TL BS5 S7/5 AP4/5 ignoring cover?I'd call it a 30" no-LIFE zone

No really - since this is yakface's forum and that's one of his rules, we need to abide by it.

I'm waiting to see where the OP was asking for rules quotes, direct points values, or anything like that?

As it stands all he asked was, "This is what my opponent did, is it legit?".........

answer "yes"

He was asking for weapon profiles and rules for units he did not have the rules to.

May as well shut the forum down then. I guess this is not where people ask if something is legit. Every post should just be replied to with "go buy the codex".

His questions were his last two sentences. I think you missed them.

This forum is for people who own the rules to discuss and ask questions about those rules, they are not a way to learn the rules without the relevant book(s).

From reading the OP i gathered that he does not own the Tau codex and did not want to bog down the game asking his opponent about every Tau rule. When I played Tau for the first time (new codex) this exact unit took me by surprise also... it is A LOT of TL shots from just 3 models.

There was no need for a snarky response, OP was not asking you for actual rules verbatim, he was just wanted to know if he was taken advantage of, which is a perfectly legitimate question. By your response FlngitNow, one would assume that you are of the opinion that one MUST own every damn codex in the game, which is a ridiculous. Do you own every codex, rulebook, suppement and 40K approved book?

I don't believe the OPs nuts have been removed with a dull, rusty razor blade yet for asking a simple question. When that has been done the thread may be closed.

Sigh...time to break out my 100 year old razor. Oh OP...here boy. This'll only hurt for a moment.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

If i had to ever make the unfortunate choice between a dull rusty razor blade and two bricks....i think it would be two bricks, surely it would be over much much quicker...its just...splat!! Hopefully they have a strong arm. Either way i am de-balled now.

Thanks for all the responses
