There it is! 7 Drop Pods altogether, with 4 coming down T1. The rest are likely to make touchdown T2 with Tigurius' power. The starting 4 pods will be determined by enemy type of course. I intend to have Tigurius and the Command Squad come in wave 2 unless really necessary. The plan is to use the tactical doctrine in turn 1 to really lay down the devastation. I should be able to crack a few vehicles with the TL melta, and the TL bolters plus flamers will really put a dent in infantry. Tigurius will of course roll on divination, hopefully granting his squad access to an invulnerable save, plus prescience. Overall, I like the strength of the alpha strike, but am concerned about staying power. I am glad to be able to put down 5-10 scoring units, but being a marine out in the cold these days is a scary proposition. I have also chosen to ignore fliers, except to hope to get off a lucky melta shot with the devastator doctrine. Any thoughts?

Pretty solid list i think.

The one thing i would consider is dropping Melta Tac for a stormraven.

But thats just me.

All anyone wants in the world is to be accepted. Except me, i don't give a S%@t.

the only real problem is that you don't have any anti air.

Why would you deep strike a lander raider?

Because i can and hey it worked didn't it?

I presume you forgot to list it but no drop pod with the command? Possibly more plasma would help having just 1 plasma squad is a concern.

You have a lot of boots on the ground but my biggest concern is a lack of threat level. You don't really have enough damage output for my liking.

Say you're against Eldar you drop in probably kill nothing as they turn any pens you get with melta in to glances then just drive away laughing. Tau is of course a terrible match up for you but you've plenty of bodies hitting the ground which should help you against interceptor but being MEQ all round you're giving Tau targets they enjoy shooting. Whilst Grav Centurion marines will laugh off your fire power and then annihilate you.

Sternguard do what the tactical do but better. LoTD are fantastic for ignoring cover AP2 spam. Whilst Ironclads give you a harder backbone that can take the interceptor fire of Tau. Just a few ideas. I can see you're going for bodies over bullets but those 3+ saves just aren't what they used to be...

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

Ah yes there is a drop pod with the command.

I probably wouldn't do the stormraven as it would severely detract from the first wave. I'd be reduced to 6 pods. Anti-air is definitely a concern, but i'm not sure where a pod army can fit it in.

Sternguard. They really concern me this codex. Yes they are better at offense than tacs. However, they are very expensive. Perhaps I could replace the flamer Tacs with Sternguard with Heavy Flamers?

As for matchups, yes there do seem to be some bad ones. Eldar are just powerful, and melta is certainly not the way forward against Serpents. Plasma might be a bit better but still inefficient. Tau are clearly the worst matchup. I fear interceptor. However, I don't see what can be done about that except overload with troops. They can only fire so many guns at me! Well perhaps against tau I will just have to drop into cover.
