Yes this is as silly as you would imagine, the ultimate example of go big or go home, Logan and the combi-melta terminator joins the long fangs, drop the whole army down and watch the fireworks.

This has a nice first round of shooting. No question about that. BUT ... You're going to be hurtin' IF - after you shoot all of your combi-weapons there's still some enemies left. Plus, you're required to deploy one unit on the board since you have three units (Logan + 2 RP's) who don't have dedicated drop pods.

and also...who wants to convert 39 models with combi-weapons.

Good point. And mix them with SW bits. Let's see.

40 Sternguard at $40 for 5 models = $40 x 8 = Ho!y $hit THREE_HUNDRED_TWENTY BUCKS !

He is not required to deploy any unit while half of the drop pods arrive in the first turn.

I would love to try this list, and maybe I will by proxy, but theres no way I'd build or buy that many combi-weapons.

However if one wanted to get that many combi-weapons and didn't want to spend an arm an a leg, I figure one could get plasma pistols for very very cheap, and use those to convert regular bolters into combi-plasmas. For combi-melta, somewhere on dakka there is a tutorial for melta using some sort of jewelry clasp things. I've seen those in person and they are an excellent (and super cheap) version of a melta barrel.

Ah ha! Yes! Thanks! That little jewelry clasp is excellent if you want to make a lot of meltas or combi-meltas and don't want to spend $50 to do it!

Wow. That's a great tutorial for the combi-meltas. Thanks for that one.

Any other feedback on the list? It does look gimmicky and silly but I genuinely feel that in a meta where MEQ gets mauled down in droves and MC run rampant, bolters is quickly becoming the worst troop weapon in the game, and burst damage is the best way to go for Space Wolves who are blessed with mass cheap combi-weapons. Sure there are bad match-ups but that's why I'm posting here to figure them out.

It might be silly but I think it could actually work...
You don't have that much cc deterrant except Logan, but it's probably not that bad in this edition. Flyers are going to be a challenge for this list but again, they always are for SW.

Like I said in the first place: might be silly, but I don't find anything that is that much out of place...

Praise the emperor, bless your weapon and pass the ammo!

Hmm

Have you considered tossing a plasma cannon or two on the long fangs instead of the MM incase of massed hordes? Ex. A green tide will be able to weather 12 flamers since at most they will kill 2 blocks of boyz

In that case it sounds like it would be better to leave on plasma squad at home and have a third flamer squad instead. Plasma cannons aren't going to do much at all to hordes anyway. Better to keep the fangs there for the tanks and other nasty tough stuff.
