Jealous that Horus is Warmaster

Howdy,
Pretty much as the title says, I fancy making a Captain model with the Teeth of Terra and am trying to find a suitably 'beefy' chainsword.
Really like the look of Gabriel Seth's but I wanted mine to be one-handed.
Any suggestions would be grand.
*Edit*
I care not a jot if it is GW or not, suitably cool and it'll be hot to trot

Yeah I had considered that but it wouldn't really help bulk it out any and whilst it would be long enough it wouldn't really be chunky enough. At least for my tastes anyways.

The Forge World legion ones are nice, I was going to suggest those they have the old design from times gone by going for them to make this thing look a bit more like a relic than a pimped out mk(whatever theyre upto) chainsword.

What if you took 2 sets on the elongated ones and glued the backsides together. It would it longer and double sided.

Yeah I like that very much, have never seen that set before and I'm frequently scouring FW's pages. Surprised I've missed it. Although £20 is a lot of money you do get an impressive array of stuff, definitely worth considering.
BladeTX wrote:Who are you giving The Teeth to?
I have a really nice Captain model I've converted who has a regular chainsword, felt like pimping him up with the Teeth. I also own this model:
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/News/2011-Forge-World-Show-Figure.html
I think he'd look a bit nifty with the 'Teeth'
Marshall Ragnar wrote:What if you took 2 sets on the elongated ones and glued the backsides together. It would it longer and double sided.
The initial image in my head from your idea was 'Darth Maul style?' The double edged idea is certainly appealing and would look different from the norm
Thanks for the link. Really, really like the middle one, I don't even mind the long handle, unless it makes him look ridiculous, I'd probably keep as is.

For me that is a bit too chunky and not long enough! I'm hard to please I know...
Atm I'm really liking the Kromlech and FW ones. You reckon there a bit too precise a piece to try and source from Swap Shop?

Well, the FW ones aren't quite out yet. They ship at the end of the month. I LOVE the Lightning Claws in that set too.

That'd explain why I hadn't noticed them before then! Must say it is a really impressive set. Yes those Claws look truly lethal! Thinking of getting one of these just for all the cool pieces you get. Such a good array of weaponry. I'm also using
the Volkite Caliver weapon set:
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/The_Horus_Heresy/Legiones_Astartes/Space_Marine_Legion_Army_List/Legion_Troops/Legion_Tactical_Support_Squad/VOLKITE_CALIVER_SET.html
These will be my Grav Guns so the Volkite Serpentas you get in the weapon set you linked would be ideal as Grav Pistols for my squad Sergeants.
My marines have taken the back seat in recent times of my modelling/gaming so it's about time they got a bit of TLC.

Try to convert the chain sword, Blood Reaver, from chapter master Gabriel Seth of the Flesh tearers? Just a suggestion. That's the best 2 handed chainsword I can think of.
Hope it helps.

I just decided to build a generic Captain/Chapter Master in power/artificer armor (a la Azrael artificer armor, which just looks exactly like power armor, meh). I modelled him with one of the chainswords from the new Vanguard Vet box which is fancy enough to count as either a pimped up chainsword or the 'Teeth of Terra' if I want it to. Just a cheap and cheerful way of representing a slightly better than average looking chainsword.

To be honest I might look to the Ork range for a good Teeth weapon. Either make use of the oversized chainsword choppa that comes in the Boyz kit, or else you might cut and splice a few of the weapons from the larger guys like the Nobz or the Killa Kans. Nothing says that the weapon has to be definitively sword-like in the traditional sense...

Well I've just placed my order for the Kromlech set:
I prefer the look of the one on the left so going to see how that looks when they arrive. It looks a bit more chunky than the other although I do like the blades on both sides of the middle one. Depending on the size of the Relic Blade looking one I may use it as the Burning Blade with a suitable paint job.

Not trying to thread jack but I used the middle Kromlech one to make my counts-as Seth
The left one is a bit shorter and thinner than that one, have yet to use it in a conversion but it could definitely work as Teeth of Terra for some allied vanilla marines. Thanks for the idea!

Now that is an impressive Chainsword!, thanks for the pic, gives me an idea of the scale before they arrive, I'm glad its so big and bulky, exactly how I imagined the Teeth to be. Really cool
looking model you've got there.
Not certain I'd be able to pull it off as being one handed though! I'll give it few dry fixes first and see how it looks. If it looks too daft I may try the smaller one or arm it in both hands for aesthetics and count it as the Teeth of Terra. I'm sure my gaming buddies won't mind.

Just finished painting up my bike captain, who I plan on fielding with the Teeth.
Most of my weapons are just painted black with a silver drybrush, so the detail on this one stands out. At least in my army. I may work up something more distinctive in the future, but this will work for now. The arm is magnetized at the shoulder, so swapping latter if I come up with a better idea will be easy.
