I have tried to run Combi-flamers for the Sergeants and that works fine against IG, and other High armor save armies, but against Marines they are almost useless, especially the termi-heavy armies in my game group. I was thinking I would try Combi-Gravs against those opponents but I haven't had a chance to actually try yet...my Salamanders dont feel the same without their flamers :(

Three things come to mind.

In the order you listed your army, I would assume that you want the libby to be your warlord, but I just wanted to make sure you know, Vulcan has to be your warlord if you want Master-crafted Melta/MM/C-Melta.

Also, to comment on Combi-Grav, I love them. Yeah, it doesn't give the Salamander feel you want, but I find them effective in killling Riptides and Terminators. 2 shots on the top/rhino rush with a re-roll gives them 2 hits reliably and wounds on 2+. I like them. If they weren't MC'd I'd look back into Flamer/Melta.

I'd look into drop pods, even at 1500, you can fit 5 easily. I'm not sure those devastator squads are going to do what you want them to. If you want anti-air, you want AA that doesn't die to the helturkies. I love my Stalkers. The more I use them, the more I like em. Even when there isn't an air/skimmers, I snapfire 8 shots at 2 different targets and hope to cause a single wound for morale checks (obviously I'm aiming at already weakened targets from the rest of my shooting).

Saly with no flamers? Blasphemy!

Edit: I erased this post as i misread the point limit. I like stalker and dev squad with lascannons over flakk missiles. Stalker for AA and Las for Terms.

To be honest the Librarian is in the list just to fill in points until I can buy some more models. Are you saying that if I have Vulkan as well as the Librarian I cant get the Vulkan Melta rule? that would be unfortunate.

I never really thought about Drop Pods, back when I played in 5th edition they had just started getting popular right before I started playing, I bought the one I have just because it came with the 10 man Tac. Squad for 5 dollars more than just a Tac. Squad. Maybe with Salamanders being the kind of army they are Drop pods could be a good idea, I'll look into it.

I agree with the anti air as well, my Dev. Squad gets targeted almost immediately after my poor dreadnought (Which failed both times I tried to drop him in and melt something turn one, bad Armor Pen rolls both times ) other than that and the Drop Pods though, what do you think should be my next Purchase? What do you think my army really needs to fill it out a bit more. I really want a Land Raider again, maybe some Assault Terminators, but if you think something else would be a bit better let me know.

Oh and thank you of course, for taking the time to check this out.

Personally, a nasty combo to run in any army is Sterguard with an attached Librarian. The best choice is Tigurius because he has access to Divination, but when trying to run a Salamanders army *which I do regularly* a standard Epistolary with Biomancy works really well. Blessings really boost the effectiveness of the Sternguard, and you have a halfway decent melee model to aid them in times of Close Combat.
