Ok, so I've been studying the codex and have come up with the following for an upcoming game at 2k

HQ

Pedro Kantor (185pts)

Elites (618pts)

Sternguard Squad #1 (283pts)
9 Man Squad (Pedro Goes here)
2x Heavy Flamers
Sgt w/ Power Wep and Melta Bombs
Drop Pod

Sternguard Squad #2 (335pts)
10 Man Squad
2x Heavy Flamers
Sgt w/ Power Wep and Melta Bombs
3x Combi-Weps (Probably Grav)
Drop Pod

Troops (420pts)

Tactical Squad #1 (210pts)
10 Man Squad
Meltagun, MM
Sgt w/ Combi-Melta and Melta Bombs
Drop Pod

Tactical Squad #2 (210pts)
10 Man Squad
Meltagun, MM
Sgt w/ Combi-Melta and Melta Bombs
Drop Pod

Fast Attack (200pts)

Assault Squad #1 (100pts)
5 Man Squad
2x Flamers
Sgt w/ Melta Bombs
Drop Pod

Assault Squad #2 (100pts)
5 Man Squad
2x Flamers
Sgt w/ Melta Bombs
Drop Pod

Heavy Support (477pts)

Devestator Squad #1 (213pts)
7 Man Squad
4x Lascannon
Drop Pod

Devestator Squad #2 (164pts)
6 Man Squad
4x Lascannon

TFC (100pts)

Fortification

ADL w/ Quadgun

This is 2k on the dot as far as I can tell

7 Pods - So 4 Come down on the drop (Dev pod will drop empty to allow 4 on 1st turn)

Tacs = Anti-tank / MC or Anti-Infantry, Scoring

Assault= Anti-horde / Meat Shield

Sterns= Anti infantry or light vehicles, Scoring

Devs= Anti-Tank / MC / Buildings, pot shots at anti-air w/ Sgt on quadgun

TFC = Anti-infantry / light vehicles

ADL (manned by Devs)= Anti-Air + cover

What do you guys think?

I really like this list. The only questions I have are about the extra men in the dev squad. I feel those pts could be better used somewhere else although I am not sure where.

The only reason for the extra bodies in the Dev squds is just to provide some ablative wounds.

They should be either in bolstered ruins (buffed by techmarine) or behind the ADL, and I figured they'll probably be taking alot of fire.

As such I wanted to give them a few more guys to protect the lascannons as long as possible by placing the bolter dudes and Sgt in from of the cannons.

Will have to play test it and see how they work out, havn't really used devs for a few years now and need to get back in the hang of it.

Why assault squad instead of third sternguard. Not that big of a point difference, same amount of attacks, etc. More sternguard would be scoring too and they have range and better ammo.

I also think you're putting too many points into LC. I know they're very seductive but ML are better, but truthfully you'll be better grabbing some honorguard and more sternguard/tacticals in a drop pod.

Drop prodded CF work best all out. Devastators aren't very point effective (I know, tank hunter, but let it pass). Right now it usually works better to have enough dropped to cut a beachhead into the opponents line than to suicide drop.

Very good points

The Assault Squads were basically there as a way of providing cheap meat shield / Anti Horde / Speed bump to give my Sterns and Dev's more time to pound things into dust.

100pts for 5 Assault is far cheaper than 155pts for 5 naked stern, and a command squad with plasma or grav would be even more. I man try them both down the line

I agree that an all out pod is best, Just figured I'd try out the Devs to see how they work in this edition, as in 5th they were too expensive / died to fast for what they did.

Perhaps drop one Dev squad to all MM and drop them with the sterns? Snap shot first round and hide them behind cover / pod then kill a tank every round thereafter?

Still trying to get my balance back as I used to do 3 full sterns with masive combi-overload and am trying to switch things up

I'd like to keep one lascannon squad, as the increase in combis has had me looking for my can-opener duties somewhere else

One fun thing you could do is to put 4 dev centurions and a ironclad in a raven delivery system to the opponents deployment zone

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The loadout could look something like this

685pts

stormraven gunship (230)
-twin linked Lascannon (free)
-twin linked missile launcher (25)
-extra armour (5)

•centurion devestators (320)
-4 suits (250)
-omniscope (10)
-2 gravcannon & amp (40)
-2 missile launcher (20)

•Ironclad dreadnought (135)

A bit pricey but the pressure on your opponents forces when they just weathered a sternie alpha strike and now has to face an ironclad, 4 centurions and a stormraven!! Now that's a big deal when they are all In his deployment zone.

I have been toying about with the idea of 3 10men sternie squad w/combi weapons with Pedro, chappie and a librarian with null zone and done shield all in drop pod

Not a bad idea, but whew is that one expensive basket of eggs there :p

I'm building up some cents now, so will have to try fielding them down the line

You could swap the devs for a stern squad or more ironclad . But if you still worried about long range fire support, take another TFC.
