If the weapon of an Artillery unit's Gun model has the Gets Hot rule, how are wounds from Gets Hot assigned? It isn't clear to me if the 'firing model' is the crewman or the gun itself.

The surrounding heat of the gun melts the flesh off the guy shooting it? Sounds viable >.>

Who actually possesses the weapon with the Get's Hot rule, the Artillery piece or the crewman?

Irrelevant. It is the model firing that takes the wound per the "Gets Hot!" rule.

On a similar tangent, say a grot cannon with multiple crew was affected by weapon virus (Edited). If the weapon gets hot do all the grot crew make saves or just one assigned at random?

IF it affects the crew, then I'm fairly sure it would affect the one specific grot who is firing the gun.

I think it's the gun since it makes sense from a fluff perspective.

I read this as the model whose BS you're using to fire. Any other definition of "firing model" that refers to the gun means you can't use a BS when you fire it, since shooting rules refer to using the BS of the model too.

The artillery rules are 100% crystal clear on who is firing the gun; second paragraph of "Shooting with Artillery";one crewman within 2" fires the gun(and cannot fire any of his own weapons, so no firing the T-L PP or Flamer on the TFC Techmarine).

Get Hot! is also 100% Crystal Clear; when firing such a weapon, the firing model takes the wound.

In an artillery unit the Firing model is the crewman within 2" designated as firing.
