As to release date, keep a weathered eye on the News & Rumours forum.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Word has it will be released in March of 2014.

What I hope/expect to see are:

Regiment specific rules, much like SM Chapters. With this I hope to see more options/diversity amongst IG players. I like a good gunline as much as the next person but that seems to be the only viable strategy nowadays in competitive settings which is just boring.

Steel Legion redone in plastic (GW desperately needs to branch out from Cadian/Catachan)

A new vehicle of some sort. (Some suggest the Baneblade will added to normal codex, highly unlikely imo but I think it would be awesome) I'd personally like to see Salamander Scout Tanks/Vultures make it into the Codex.

Stormtroopers desperately need a points reduction, Commissar Yarrick needs a drastic points reduction, Ogyrns need points reductions/buff, Rough Riders need a buff, Penal Legion needs to not be random/minor points reduction.

Expect Vendetta's to increase 20-40 in points cost.

Well, I wouldn't expect any flavor of Crassus to be included, since Forgeworld units showing up in codices doesn't really happen much anymore. The existing IG codex is pretty much the beginning and end of that.

I've read a few rumors saying March, but I dunno how sound that is. The only thing I can guarantee is a few points changes, like the aforementioned Vendetta points increase. I'd love Stormtroopers to be decent and for Leman Russes to fire their hull/sponson guns along with the ordnance main guns. There's a lot of gaps to fill in the model range, namely the artillery and Stormtroopers, as well as plastics for Ogryn and Rough Riders.

I unfortunately don't see plastic Steel Legion arriving any time soon. GW already has a lot of Cadian/Catachan plastics that need filling up, I highly doubt they're going to be doing an entirely new range of IG.

What I hope to see is... that rough riders would stay in the codex. Maybe utterly redone but still, I want my cavalry. Hoping to see at-least one new unit, no matter what it is, also additional orders might be nice.

As unit upgrades I'd really wish to have some-sort of night-vision goggles for basic infantry. I don't care if it costs a lot or not, I want it still. Also getting a decent close-combat weapon to Armored sentinel might be something neat to try out. Basilisk with less(smaller?) minimum range and Punisher cannon to have AP 5 (just so it wouldn't get a penalty on armour damage rolls from AP -), would be really lovely.

What i want is a complete buff for Rough riders, so instead of just lancers make options for dragoons, hussars and carbiners. (also a plastic kit for this)

Some regimental doctrine thang would be nice. I'd like to be able to represent my catachans as catachans ruleswise also.

The CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT LAUNCHER would indeed be glorious, but it won't happen.

I don't expect many shocks from the Guard release; they're a successful army, both in sales and gameplay, with some obvious model holes that need filling which will take up most of the release. They're actually a candidate, i think, for a 2 month release like Dark Elves are getting if that's a new precedent for the armies in need. Guard has solid rules, a lot of missing, old metal and old plastic models which need updating.

But then I think the same thing of Chaos, and they didn't get that kind of treatment, but I digress.

Rules wise, well that's a bit more ambiguous. If I was running the show, regimental doctrines ala chapter tactics (but made more "generic," it wouldn't make sense to call them Steel Legion or Catachan doctrines, but rather armoured fist or jungle fighter, but we'll see what route GW takes, more realistic, or more "thematic"), the obvious rules adjustments like cheaper stormtroopers, more expensive vendettas etc, and some wargear needs to be redone, the Vox Caster in particular. It should allow you to give orders regardless of range if both units have a vox, rather than this current odd re-rolling failed tastes if within 12'' of a command unit if both units have the upgrade.

My own personal guesses beyond the obvious, however, would be some adjustments on the various Leman Russ tanks. As the meta and ruleset has changed, the value of certain variants has changed. Ordnance in particular has become less valuable, non ordnance moreso, with some clear winners in the Eradicator for killing often poorly armoured units relying on buffed cover saves to hold objectives, and the exterminator as a versatile non-ordnance variant. The standard battle tank has become somewhat less worthwhile, and the demolisher is maybe a touch too expensive now for what you get. The Executioner should probably get a point drop as well, it was never a great investment at 190 points, and while 3 St7 Ap2 small blasts which don't get hot is good, they miss far too often when plasma vets can get more plasma down range more reliably for fewer points.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

I just hope that if they include some kind of doctrines/tactics system like in C:SM, they don't pull the same foolishness of restricting special characters based on it; Straken is the only Guard character with the statline/equipment to properly represent my Magos Explorator, but the kind of doctrines/tactics you could imagine him being tied to(some form of Catchans/Jungle Fighters) don't even come close to being a thematic choice for Mechanicus.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

I'm interested in what they might be bringing to the table (heh) with a new IG codex. Of course, there's a pretty decent wishlist that all of us IG players would like to see: Steel Legion, Mordians, Tallarn in some cases, all complete with their own special rules and units. But alas, that probably won't happen.

Stoffer has the right of it I think, probably the most reasonable of ideas.

I'd also like to see a dual plastic kit for Rough Riders. One for the standard lance ones, and the other option being some heavy infantry mounted on horses, with guns. Shooty rough riders would be awesome.

Thanks, As Far Seer put it, JanuWAAAGHry might be the way to go.

However, It seems like all the rumour mongers are just pushing everything along further by a couple of months, due to the DE release being now confirmed to extend into November as well.
That means no nidvember.

If we push the Tyranid, ork and IG releases along a couple of months each it may look like:

Redo the Cadian Plastic kit to add options for Female troops.

It's always bugged me that they've never been included since there's supposed to be a high percentage of them in Imperial Guard forces.

Plastic Storm Troopers are a must. And to give them a bit of a revamp in terms of rules.

I think there was a thread on this recently...

Well anyway it's probably best that they don't, because knowing Gdubya's female sculpts, they'll have deformed faces, and have some kind of special boob-cavity-armour.

Good thing there are outstanding alternatives.

Honestly, I just want the new Guard dex to have better internal balance. That's it. A toned down vendetta, buff the other FA choices, make the elites worth taking, give the Russ back its ability to shoot and move all its weapons, and tidy up the infantry platoon so all the squads have the same basic options.

I really don't care what new units are put in, I just want a codex where you don't automatically start the list with three vendettas to be competitive.

My wish list:
1. CCW weapon for sentinels? No? Just me? Anyone?
2. More poses for Cadians and/or other Guard variants in plastic (Mordian, Elysian, Steel Legion)
3. Revamp storm trooper models; they look tacky to me for now.
4. More practical elite choices (buff OR points reduction)
5. More independent characters?
6. Marbo can assault when he arrives from reserves, or some other buff. If this doesn't happen, he'll he waiting inside every Codex to kill each reader and go exterminatus on the nearest GW.
And things more of fantasies:
Payable upgrade for another hull point on your Russes?
Plasma/multimelta HWT?

The following is a combination of rumors (from various sources including other websites and friends I know) that I have heard and also a bit of a wishlist :

1-Supposedly we will be getting "Doctrines" much like the new SM Codex got "Chapter Tactics" with each one benefitting a different style of army or if not in this form in the form of supplemental books.

2-Plastic Steel Legion, I have heard this via rumor and wishlist so I hope the rumor part is true. The Catachan models are awful and its boring to see just Cadians everywhere. Would be a big fan of other regiments (Valhallan, Mordian, Tallarn, Praetorian, ect.) coming out in plastic as well (dont see any of the Forgeworld Regiments becomming available via plastic) but we all know GW has a hard time recognizing a good idea.

3-Elite choices get point decreases and new models.

4-Certain kits get needed upgrades (Rough Riders) and more boxes that can build multiple kits.

5-Guard boxes either drop in $ or go up to 12-20 guys per box (big fantasy wish here).

6-Since every army is getting a new "big and shiny" unit I am expecting some form of "Heavy Tank" to be our fancy new kit.

7-Some sponsons on Leman Russ variants go down in points.

8-Leman Russ Battle Tanks can take different "ammo" types for certain variants. Another big wish here but it would make perfect sense for a Leman Russ to have Armor Piercing shells and High Explosive shells

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.

That video is a heavy dose of reality, for sure. I now begin to grasp the bleakness of what is to come:
1. Price hike on all varieties of basic guardsmen
2. 3 or 4 units become a deluxe cheese platter while the rest of the line suffers death-by-nerf
3. A single new $150 (American dollars) tank or flier, pushing the baneblade up to $200
4. Cadians are made into metal minis, and Catachans are whittled down to 2 possible poses: arms up and arms down.

And we will continue to burn our money. Lord have mercy on our souls.
