Hey Guys

Becoming a little obsessed with techmarines lately, and thinking of creating a few with just servo arms, for a fluffy marine chapter. Where are the best (and cheapest in terms of cash, for that matter) places to get servo arms from, or what is a good way to create a few from scratch? I intend to make my techmarines out of Iron Hands upgrade bits and tac squad bits. I have a good idea of how I want to arm them, so the only thing I need to sort out is where I can source a few servo arms from.

Thanks in advance

Well, Ive thought of a decent technique to build some. Youd need a cadian flamer, a space marine (or catachan) flamer, and two chainswords. Cut the nozzle off of the marine flamer, giving you two pipes. Cut the arm, hand, hose and strap on the cadian flamer off, and adjust the angles of everything so it lines up. Cut off the nozzle of the cadian flamer, leaving just a tiny bit left as a base for your claw. Cut the two chainswords off at the hilt, and at about the 4th tooth on the sword, then angle the blunt side a bit. Glue the swords together, teeth facing each other, and glue it onto the the nozzle of the cadian flamer. Add and remove any details you want.

Hope that helps a bit... Sorry about the lack of pics though, dont have a camera atm. :/

Zinge makes some servo arms: http://zinge.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=89&product_id=288

I've also seen necron arms and legs used to convert the main part of a servo arm.

A rather simple conversion idea is to use cables (either guitar wire or some flexible ones from for example zinge) or a wire with small pieces of a pipe glued onto.

Also if you have the time and conversion skill you could build your own arms from scratch useing plasticrad rods and squares in different sizes. I did that for my counts as fabius bile. But it does take a lot of time and can get rather fiddly.

btldoomhammer: Your version of Bile is very close to the GW model, very well sculpted! The servos look a little fiddly but shouldn't be too difficult to make

livanbard: This is kind of what I was thinking, although I have no idea where I could source some of the brass disks. I would assume I could make a few out of plasticard with a little effort.

If you go to home depots hardware isle there are some very interesting broze looking gears of all sizes.Ive seen them used often in scratch built fantasy dwarf war machines. I believe they should fit your needs exactly. I think their original purpose is to act as some form of lock washer.

I used this kit mainly for attachments to servitor arms, but you could use it for servo arms i reckon.
