How will I do in a regional with a decent meta with this list
3-0; that many FMCs is too many!
2-1; you'll get one game with no terrain to hide, and get Serpent Shielded off the board
1-2; Too imbalanced, too many bad match ups
0-3; Taudar are everywhere. You're done for

So, I always tell myself I'm going to do a tournament report, but I never manage to actually do it. I'm hoping that by posting a thread beforehand I will force myself to do it.

Those of you who are familiar with my ramblings on FLG know two things. 1) I'm in the Army. 2) I haven't written anything in a while (SLACKER). These two facts are related, the Army has been killing my personal time lately, and I have not played a game of 40k in weeks, and I haven't played a "competitive" game in over a month. Last three games I played, I ran fluffy SW lists versus outmatched locals, and it was not rewarding.

So, I'm coming back from my hiatus at an FCB tournament in Atlanta. I placed second at one of their tournaments back in June, and found it to be fun, with good terrain and a decent meta. (I ran a really cheesy Sabre Platform/Dog Rush build; IG/Daemons). Since then I've had decent luck running the Flying Circus (well, a balanced build with Dogs too), and taken a few high level scalps. However, I'm of the opinion that the meta has passed the Flying Circus by, it relies too much on terrain against Eldar and C&C Deathstar Tau (and likely White Scars as well). And, well, tournaments are not good about terrain. However, FCB has good terrain placement (based on my previous experience there), so I think i'll give the Flying Circus at least one more go (which is somewhat dishonest, I may bring it to the Redstone Rumble).

My Horde Daemon List isn't finished, and I don't feel right bringing the Screamerstar to a smaller tournament (plus I may bring it to Redstone). Also, I'm used to the playstyle of the Circus, so the month long break won't be as bad.

So, if this is potentially my last tournament with the Circus (and who knows, I may completely change my mind), I'm going to go ALL OUT with it. Two important things. 1) It's dual Force Org. 2) Good terrain (so I don't need to waste points on a Bastion)

Here's the list, tell me how you think I'll do (and what I should change)

HQ:
Fateweaver
Daemon prince of Slaneesh (wings, armor, lvl 3, 2 greater)

Troops:two squads of Daemonnetes

HS: Daemon Prince of Tzeentch (wings, armor, lvl 3, 1 greater, grimoire)

HQ 2
Daemon prince of Slaneesh (wings, armor, lvl 3, 2 greater)
Daemon prince of Nurgle (wings, armor, lvl 3, 1 greater)

Troops 2
two squads of Horrors, one squad has 11

Everyone rolls biomancy with some throw away rolls into telepathy except maybe the tzeentch prince who goes full on for invis.

5 FMCs. Two Lash Princes. Tzeentch Prince to tote the Grimoire and Score in Big Guns. One Bale Sword Prince for punking WKs and Riptides. It's an extreme and imbalanced build, but I think it would be fun.

I'm voting 2-1. FMC-spam is strong, however, it's got a glaring weakness. 1 bad roll and it could be all over. Moreover, Tau with skyfire will give you some problems here, though you are certainly capable of beating them.

Good luck!

Thanks. Haha. Truthfully Eldar worry a lot more than Tau do. I have a pretty effective anti Tau strategy, and I actually think I generally have the advantage in that match up. Not to say I will always win it, but I have it down almost to a science and win more than I lose.

Eldar though, Eldar are bad news for FMC spam.

Why did you decide to go with mostly daemon princes? With dual force org. i would have traded one out for a Lord of Change, great psychic shooting, can't be intsta killed by a lucky strength 10 shot, and is a monster in close combat with the staff of change. Your list looks deadly, i just can't pass up the LOC.

Not sure where you could find the points (Maybe drop a mastery level) but a PortalGlyph could be effective in this kind of army. Flying Circus relies heavily on the FMC to do ALL the work, to clear enemy objectives and too keep enemies away from your own and to draw fire away from troops. By having the Portal Glyph hiding somewhere popping out horrors (A single horror is as effective as a whole unit, so why not!) would take the pressure off of your other troops from home field/mid field objective camping.

Just an option.

With 4 troops, it's not too bad. I'd say trying to get Iron Arm is a higher priority for his army than to get more troops.

I debated pretty hard on this very thing. The LOC is awesome, but I went with all Princes for a couple reasons. First, each type of Prince has a different role. The Tzeentch Prince's job is to survive and buff. The Slaanesh Princes' jobs are to kill things. The Lash is better than Flickering Fire (in general), and fleet is invaluable when charging things. The Nurgle Prince is counter assault for killing opposing big nasties. As good as a Lord of Change is in assault, a Nurgle Prince is better.

The second reason I didn't take a LOC. I feel he is less consistent. Some games a Lord of Change will be damn near unstoppable; some games he won't get any survivability gifts/powers at all. T6 is awesome, but banking on a 5++ against Serpeant Shields is no bueno. He also takes away rolls at the two powers that really "break" the flying circus. Iron Arm and Invisibility. He grants Forewarning access, which is great too, but then you're diving your focus on Psychic Powers rather than maximizing rolls for specific powers. Plus if I take Flickering Fire, I lose a roll on Divination. A Lash Prince doesn't have to sacrifice a psychic power to shoot (or 2-3 warp charges).

I feel a LOC is a generalist, and the best FMC at lower points levels. At 2k, especially with so many HQ slots, I can use different types of Princes for different types of roles. Everytime I run the circus, I wish I could just pick and choose which kind of Prince I can use (as Tzeentch, Slaanesh and Nurgle all have advantages), now I can, haha.

I generally run the Portaglyph, but if I'm running 5FMCs, I need maximum chances at Iron Arm/Invis. I'll take the gamble that four Troops is enough.

Well, I appreciate the interest, but RL got in the way again. I couldn't make the tournament. =(

So, uh, anyone in the Columbus GA area want to play? I'm getting seriously out of practice here.
